THE ROLE: The Diesel Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, service, repair, and maintenance of Xylem products in a safe and efficient manner in a Xylem Service Center, customer job site or via phone. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Diesel experience and/or formal training or combination of education and training
- Create an accurate and legible parts and repair list, manually or digitally, for assigned product.
- Test all repaired equipment for proper operation and quality. - Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues
- Perform preventative maintenance on Company vehicles and shop support equipment
- Assist customer and/or Xylem personnel with setting up pumping systems on customer job sites as needed. Assist in the performance of start-up duties and ensure any problems are resolved.
- Train new service or other shop personnel and customers, as needed, in service and/or other related standard work.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following EHS&S guidelines, policies and best practices.
- Participate in weekly on-call rotation schedule to assist customers after hours.
- Perform related duties as assigned. Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma of equivalent required.
- Diesel experience (CAT / John Deere) and/or formal training or combination of education and training
- Experience with Tier 4 diesel engine repairs and maintenance preferred.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.
- Working knowledge and experience with diesel engine repairs and emission control systems
- Thorough understanding of the methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in equipment repair and maintenance.
- Advanced knowledge of DC electric and circuit testing skills
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision; self-motivated and self-directed.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools and lifting equipment.
- Familiarity with engine diagnostic tools
- Commercial driver license preferred (Class A or Class B)
- DOT Medical card preferred.
DAY IN THE LIFE: In this role, the working environment is {insert environment such as frequently outdoors, weather extremities, use of PPE, exposures to hazardous material, loud noise, etc.} and the physical demands may include but not limited to {regularly sitting, standing, lifting up to 50lbs, etc.}. In addition, this role may {insert travel requirements} and {Indicate if required to work on weekends, nights, on-call as a regular part of the job} SALARY: The estimated salary range for this position is $28/hr. - $36/hr. plus bonus. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
