Job Description
As the Human Resources (HR) Manager for Nike South Africa, you’ll lead the HR function by providing HR expertise and consulting to leaders and teams to maximize organization effectiveness and help activate the organization for growth. You will plan, manage and deliver all aspects of human resources according to global, EMEA Geography (GEO), NIKE South Africa (NSA), legal and government guidelines and objectives. You’ll optimize human capital performance in line with strategic and operational business goals and contribute towards the maintenance of sound labour practices, optimising productivity and profitability for NSA.
You’ll lead the organization on Employment Equity and Black Economic Empowerment strategy and implementation. You will work with GEO HR Business Partners and Center of Excellence (COE) partners to gather employee and marketplace insights, data, and trends, which you will use to drive solutions and actions contributing to organizational health and the achievement of business objectives. You will utilize a variety of methods to ensure you have a strong presence in the function yielding an “insider’s” pulse on strengths, opportunities, and the overall health of the function.
You’ll participate in key business planning and talent planning sessions to assess talent and develop strategies to address development needs, gaps, and risks. You will play a key role in developing and/or executing strategies and interventions requiring organizational design, employee/industrial relations, leadership and team development, change management, performance management, compliance, and overall engagement.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS
Strategic Planning:
- Active member of the Nike South Africa Leadership Team responsible for organisational planning.
- Development and management of strategic planning for the Human Resources function.
- Drive adoption and execution of workforce management strategies and solutions
Rewards Management:
- Adoption and application of Nike global remuneration practices to ensure fair and equitable pay practices.
- Partner with relevant CoEs to ensure the market relatedness of remuneration practices
- Provide advice to the business on all compensation and benefit related matters.
Talent Management and Development:
- Leadership and development of the Human Resources team
- Steward the country leadership and management succession in line with organisational talent plans.
- Ensure inclusive talent acquisition practices across levels in line with applicable policy and procedure.
- Lead and monitor the implementation of Nike’s performance management policy and practices.
- Ensure business compliance to performance review gates and dates.
- Over-see the development of leaders, managers and teams through relevant learning interventions.
- Management of the country’s learning and development budget, including optimization of the skills development levy rebates
- Enable the business to effectively manage organisational changes and transition
- Ensure integration of BBBEE strategies into talent acquisition, development and retention programs to ensure success of diversity management initiatives.
Employee Relations:
- Work closely with the CoE to ensure sound management of the country’s labour relations matters.
- Over see the process to ensure Nike’s compliance to Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Employment Equity and Skills development Acts (amongst others).
Culture Stewardship:
- Ensure the employee voices are heard, by supporting interventions emanating from the Employee Engagement surveys.
- Steward culture enrichment initiatives through partnership with leaders, and relevant teams (New Crews, employee networks groups) in pursuit of creating/maintaining an inspiring place to work
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or related area with at least 8 years’ experience in human resource position, 4 of which should be at leadership/management level.
- Experience as HR leader with exposure/experience in the areas of organizational effectiveness, change management, employee relations, talent management, rewards management, learning and development, and HR program management in a Retail/FMCG environment
- Solid understanding of South African Labour Law and its impact on employment practices
- Very good communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills.
- Flexible, fair, yet firm leadership style
- Successful track record of change leadership and transformation.
- Ability to resource the organisation both strategically and operationally.
- Experience with HR metrics and data to story tell and provide decision support
- Proven ability to calmly, confidently, and confidentially engage with leaders, managers and broader teams to address people opportunities and needs, as appropriate.
