Senior Software Engineer, Backend

Job Description

Crew is a group messaging and productivity platform geared for those who don’t work in front of a computer. We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate backend engineers to help us build and scale our real-time backend system. We iterate quickly and de-centralize our decision making; therefore this person will make a huge impact on our product, users and growth.

Your Role:

• Steward backend technology stack and evolve our systems through solid architectural design, use of sensible technology, and enforcing best practices
• Collaborate with product, design, and client engineers to build new features and scale our real-time communication system back-end using modern technologies and tooling
• Take ownership over projects, lay the foundation of great code, and help others around you to live up to those same standards
• Help architect modular, reusable, and easily maintainable application infrastructure

Ideal Experience/Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience building web applications and services
• Fluency in one or more server-side programming language (e.g. Java, Kotlin, Python)
• Strong understanding of databases and NoSQL (e.g. DynamoDB, Redis, MongoDB)
• Experience in building and scaling systems in public cloud environment (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Used to a fast paced and collaborative environment where every voice has an impact on the product
• Relevant work experience and/or bachelor's degree in computer science
