O’Reilly Media is currently looking for a Legal Assistant to join our team in Sebastopol, CA office. The legal team is a small but lively group of legal specialists who are valued as much for their creativity, problem-solving skills and business sense as for their expertise. They are distributed between our headquarters in Sebastopol, CA and our office in Boston, MA.

We are looking for an ambitious, resourceful and detail-oriented professional to assist our legal team with a variety of administrative tasks. As a Legal Assistant, you will perform legal administrative support functions, including:

• Online and hardcopy file maintenance for contracts & other legal documents
• Database entry relating to the above
• Coding/processing of invoices from outside law firms
• Investigation and follow-up relating to reported copyright infringement of O’Reilly publications
• Preparation and submission of filings to the U.S. Copyright Office
• Responding to internal requests for copies of contracts & other legal documents.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree
• 1-3 years’ experience working in a fast-paced office environment
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Gmail
• Demonstrated ability to complete tasks in a timely manner
• Excellent attention to detail.
