Systems Capacity Planner Lead

The System’s Capacity Planner will be responsible for the following:
• Develop detailed long-term resource plans, prepare management presentations, and submit recommendations to technical management and Finance review and approval.
• Function as the lead for a team of capacity planers in ongoing assignments or specific project initiatives.
• Generation of Capacity Planning & Performance reports
• Production of mainframe and distributed capacity planning forecasts
• Production of mainframe DASD and distributed SAN hardware forecasts and usage
• Performance analysis and tuning
• Planning for the collection and organization of platform component information.
• Installing and coordinating configuration of standard performance monitoring tools.
• Supporting Infrastructure technology-based projects, e.g. hardware upgrades.
• Communicating new technology (hardware/software) to customers.
• Developing and presenting modeling scenarios.
• Producing ad hoc resource usage reports and analysis
• Perform cost estimation and alternatives analysis for capacity demands and growth.
• Contributes largely to the development and recommendation of standards and guidelines in conjunction with Strategy & Planning.
• Provide capacity planning, trend forecasting, and availability reporting for IT systems.
• Monitors utilization analyzes current and future resource demands and forecasts future resource requirements to optimize planning and budget forecast efforts. Summarizes findings using factual evidence and presents reasoning for utilization increases and/or decreases
Requirements:
• Knowledgeable in mainframe and server technology
• Working knowledge of Mainframe DASD and distributed SAN
• Knowledgeable of N-tier Technology
• Experience with RMF/CMF - zOS – Omegamon or MainView - SAS - JCL - Modeling Tools
• Detail-oriented with solid verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent project management and organizational skills
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a high sense of urgency and accountability
• Ability to manage multiple and diverse technology issues to resolution with minimal supervision
• Ability to be resourceful in identifying and analyzing issues and to escalate appropriately
Education Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related field
• 8 years of experience in capacity planning, performance modeling, forecasting, and tuning on mainframe and server platforms.
