Position Summary
We are seeking an energetic and self-motivated Sales Tax Consultant to assist our Indirect Tax Department with Tax Audits, Tax Compliance and other special projects. This position will report to the Tax Director, Sales, Use & VAT and will assist with a range of sales & use tax related functions within the U.S. and Canada.
Specific Responsibilities
Audits
* Prepare and provide auditor with supporting documentation using various internal systems
* Review auditor's work papers, prepare and provide audit defense.
* Analyze, extrapolate and evaluate audit exposure
* Compliance
* Provided support and assistance with outside consultant projects, tax filings and requests
* Respond to internal and external inquiries related to tax rates, tax classification and exemption documentation
* Research and respond to tax related inquiries
* Other
* Manage and assist with other tax related and special projects
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required
* 5+ years of experience working in corporate tax or Finance department
* Experience in interacting with auditors, audit defense and tax appeals
* Experience in sales and use tax preparation, laws and tax research
* Excellent project management and strong analytical skills
* Excellent computer skills and advanced Excel skills required
* High energy, high motivation and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively
* Works well under pressure and adapts to changing priorities
* Detail oriented, has ability to plan and is extremely organized
* Efficiently prioritizes to meet tight deadlines
* Independent thinker, self-starter and experienced in problem solving
* Ability to lead, motivate and develop staff
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Prior experience in retail industry a plus
