Aon has a career opportunity for an Account Specialist I in our St. Louis office. This position supports our Construction Services Group. This is a great opportunity to enhance your career!

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains effective and productive relationships with clients externally and client team members internally.
  • Gathers and analyzes data and drafts assigned elements of client service plans, stewardship reports and other convincing presentations tailored to the needs of the audience and the circumstances of the presentation.
  • Provides AE Leader with marketing data prior to submission, reviews policies and provides comments after policies are written, and coordinates Bridge data in order to invoice premiums and fees.
  • Where applicable, serves as the primary interface with Aon Client Services (ACS), coordinating activities of the client service team and ACS to ensure that key processes assigned are performed effectively.
  • Assist the Senior Account Specialist with ACL and PITD input.
  • Maintain daily client servicing to include processing certificates, policies, endorsements, audits, cancellations.
  • Review client contracts to determine insurance requirements required versus coverage in place as well as issuing a certificate of insurance evidencing the same.
  • Assists clients with access to our certificate issuance program if they have issues.
  • Actively supports and monitors the renewal process. At the direction of the Senior Account Specialist, drafts quote comparisons and follows up for binders, policies and endorsements.
  • Receives and manages routine coverage inquiries and endorsement requests. Serves as key client liaison for items such as certificates, auto IDs, location additions, invoices, WC posting notices, allocations, premium finance agreements, summaries of insurance, and policy transmittals.
  • Assist client with reviewing their subcontractor certificates of insurance for compliance against our client’s subcontract agreement. If deficient, works with subcontractor/subcontractor’s agent to become compliant. Provide client with a weekly status report. Also, request and review subcontractor renewal certificates.

MINIMUM SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • 1 - 3 years insurance experience preferable and specifically with experience in the area of construction insurance.
  • Effective organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of construction insurance.
  • Ability to handle multiple, non‐congruent tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint, or similar scheduling programs.
  • Missouri or Illinois Broker’s License preferable
  • Evidence of ability to become proficient in the use of Aon specific software tools.
  • May assist the Broker or AE/ Broker by developing underwriting relationships and may be expected to follow market trends, pricing practices and underwriting policies.
  • Maintains rapport and open, effective communication.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational and project management skills. Exudes confidence and sound technical knowledge.
  • Applied Critical Thinking
  • Applies a solid knowledge of major insurance coverages, (including general/product liability, commercial automobile, workers’ compensation, property, time element, umbrella, financial coverages, etc.), client-specific coverages and premium rating methods and audits.
  • Understands the structure and content of insurance contracts and is aware of most commercial insurance coverages.
  • Uses Aon tools to research and provide information to account team and/or client. Develops benchmark information and performance data to analyze trends and provide ad hoc reporting.
  • Applies Aon policies and procedures and the principles of risk management accurately and thoughtfully to make logical decisions.
  • Gains an accurate understanding of facts and situations quickly and efficiently. Recognizes if more information is needed or others should be consulted to resolve issues.
  • Brings together diverse ideas to create new client opportunities. Supports innovation in products and services to help Aon clients. Looks to enhance insurance industry and client knowledge.
  • Demonstrates sound business sense and looks to increase business acumen.
  • Works with high levels of interest, energy and enthusiasm to meet or exceed clients’ expectations.
  • Acts with responsiveness, urgency and professionalism in all client matters.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with Risk Management / Business related curriculum preferred
  • Broker’s license must be obtained within the first 90 days
  • CIC, CPCU, or ARM preferred
