Firmware Validation Engineer, Vehicle Systems

Job Description

This role supports a multi-disciplinary team through application of electrical design and software development. This engineer will support the firmware organization and thus should be capable of translating high level software validation requirements into hardware solutions to satisfy these requirements. It is the expectation of this role that the engineer has sufficient knowledge to independently develop solutions, advise technicians or suppliers through the build, and assist in bring-up and troubleshooting efforts.

Responsibilities

• Design hardware-in-the-loop test infrastructure for component level testing.
• Work with firmware engineers to design hardware that is easy to use and customize.
• Assist in test infrastructure bring-up, debug, and deploy processes.
• Coordinate with component test engineers to develop high level requirements for new tools.
• Work collaboratively with cross-organizational teams to improve overall test infrastructure.
• Independently manage time to successfully complete parallel assignments.

Requirements

• Formal engineering education in a relevant field (Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics, etc.)
• Hardware Domain: Working knowledge of data acquisition, common DC circuits and basic signal conditioning, power distribution, and mixed-signal types.
• Software Domain: Basic literacy in Python and software troubleshooting; familiarity with revision control.
• Altium Designer preferred, but not required.
• Proven experience using troubleshooting skills on complex electronic hardware systems.
• Capable of independent learning and problem solving
