About the Team

The Electronic Systems & Autopilot Thermal team is looking for motivated students for multiple internship positions. Our team is responsible for thermal management of multiple components across Tesla platforms.

We will provide training and mentorship for our interns, and the expectation is that they can work independently, take responsibility, and adapt to our fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

We prefer our interns to stay for a minimum of 8 months, however, other arrangements may be considered for motivated and exceptional candidates.

What to Expect

Test and validation of different components of Electronic Systems & Autopilot hardware across Tesla vehicles (S, X, 3, Y, ...)

o Validation is performed on bench top modules in the lab, as well as in vehicles.

o It requires familiarity with designing and building test fixtures, instrumentation, and data acquisitions systems.

o Data analysis and providing reports is an essential part of validation.

Thermal analysis

o Analytical analysis of heat and fluid flow based on first principles

o CFD modeling of heat transfer and fluid flow using commercial packages (mostly ANSYS)

Requirements

• Strong understanding of fundamentals of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics
• Undergraduate students: demonstration of interest in the above fields through projects, research experience, ...
• Graduate students: research work should be in a relevant field
• Experience in CFD and developing numerical models of thermal/fluid systems is an asset at any level
• Proven ability to work independently and take initiatives
• Find creative solutions for complex problem
