Product Designer, Seller Performance (Brooklyn, NY)

Job Description

As a Product Designer working on our Seller Performance team, you’ll help unique small businesses connect with interested consumers worldwide. We strive to make interactions between our entrepreneurial sellers and their creative buyers as intuitive, brand-aligned, and positive as possible. Product Designers at Etsy create holistic, human-centered experiences across Etsy’s web and native products. They collaborate with small, multidisciplinary teams to empower creative people around the world to sell and buy the things they love. We accomplish this by doing hands-on research with our buyers and sellers by building and testing prototypes, and listening to their feedback along the way. Our process is in service of enabling our sellers to spend more time practicing their craft and helping buyers find items to enrich their lives. You’ll actively contribute to our customer-centric design vision, champion our toolkits and design standards, own design execution to support growth-oriented business goals, and help build and maintain a world-class two-sided marketplace for nearly 2 million small business owners and 33 million buyers around the world. We’ll trust you to champion customer needs and to maintain a clear understanding of the business goals throughout the lifecycle of every project you work on.

About the Role

• Help shape your team’s roadmap by understanding and advocating for the needs of our buyers and sellers
• Make people-centered design decisions informed by data and user research
• Validate and test hypotheses by doing lightweight research directly with buyers and sellers
• Create comprehensive design solutions that deliver meaningful value to our customers and material impact for the business
• Collaborate with a range of roles: Product, Engineering, Research, Data Analysis, Customer Support, Brand Design and Marketing.
• Work with other designers across Etsy to seek and provide honest, thoughtful feedback.
• Work with people who are passionate about design but who also sing, clog, grow plants, skateboard, build motorcycles, bike, embroider emoji, host podcasts, design jewelry, draw comic books and video games, and juggle literal knives. It's not all computers and colors over here.

About You

• Have 3+ years of cross-platform product design experience
• You have a portfolio of strong web and mobile work, demonstrating holistic thinking and end-to-end product design
• Your work shows creative, user-centered solutions, with excellent use of visual design, brand principles, and information architecture
• Have a design process that encourages collaboration between other designers and product teams.
• Can communicate design decisions and processes openly, clearly, and confidently, regardless of the audience—engineers, PMs, executives, other designers, etc.
• Have helped lead a team in solving customer problems, comfortable facilitating discussions and leading through ambiguity with support from your team.
• Live in, or be willing to commute to, Brooklyn, NY
