Job Description
PURPOSE OF ROLE:
Contributes to the development of a marketing strategy and tactics consistent with the organization's overall mission, vision, and objectives through the use of data driven recommendations. Defines measures of success, objectives, recommends choice of media, and allocates resources so marketing strategies are effective, economical, and appropriate for the intended audience; demonstrates the ability to tailor marketing strategies uniquely for each channel. While this individual doesn’t have direct reports, he/she manages strategic bodies of work and leads highly visible strategic conversations across the organization with executive leadership teams. Adjusts marketing strategy and plans to meet changing markets and competitive conditions “on the fly” utilizing data and analytical skills; conducts post mortems and deep dives of how to improve marketing effectiveness future state. Liaises with other cross-functional managers to ensure that marketing activities are integrated with other parts of the business and align with corporate objectives.
Drives Marketing projects to completion by leading, directing, evaluating, and developing a team of marketing professionals that effectively implement the marketing strategy and deliver on enterprise objectives. Manages a multi-million-dollar expense budget and ensures that Marketing funds are appropriated in the most cost-effective and impactful manner. Requires deep understanding of each channel (mass and digital) and an evolving knowledge of channels consumers interface with regularly which shifts day to day. Demonstrates the ability to pivot quickly and adapt to the changing demands of the consumer based on how the customer is voting with their wallet (financial performance) as well as how the customer is voting with their time (e.g. how the customer chooses to consume the media).
RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENTS:
• Develops data-driven recommendations and insights that address changing demands of the consumer as well as shifts in the market and competitive landscape.
• Leads large bodies of work that that explore customer, market, brand, and competitive landscapes to identify whitespace opportunities that Lowe’s can own.
• Works closely with cross-functional partners like Data & Analytics, Marketing Operations and Finance to validate growth opportunities, and build business cases for new capabilities, initiatives and strategic directions.
• Serves as the liaison between the Marketing organization and Business Resource Groups (Affinity Groups).
• Helps manage marketing partnerships that drive loyalty to the Lowe’s brand.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Research, Statistics, Social Sciences or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in Retail Marketing, Consumer Marketing, Marketing Research, Consulting or related field.
• Ability to synthesize large amounts of material from different sources and distill key insights into well-written analysis.
• A strong writer with instinctive appreciation for tone and structure.
• Expertise in use of Excel and presentation software like PowerPoint and Keynote.
• Well-developed and professional presentation and communication skills.
• Experience communicating with Senior and Executive levels of leadership.
• Ability to maintain composure and productivity in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
• Ability to approach problems systematically, researching all alternatives and making appropriate recommendations.
• Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results: self-starter and self-directed.
PERFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• 5+ years’ experience in the Retail Industry.
• Master’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Marketing Research or related field
