Job Purpose - Identifies, publishes and communicates technology standards, frameworks, principles and roadmaps to be used throughout the IT organization to guide technology decisions and leverage opportunities through efficient design. Defines the roadmap from the "as-is state" to the “to-be state”. Designs a secure, efficient, and adaptable future state model. Defines the high level migration plan to address the gaps between the "as-is" and future state.
- Lead definition of an enterprise strategy for National Grid, including definition of standards, guidelines and best practices for application-to-application and business-to-business integrations.
- Where appropriate lead definition and implementation of National Grid’s enterprise architecture strategy and framework.
- Knowledgeable in understanding of National Grid’s global business strategies and contribute to development of an application rationalization roadmap
- Contribute as a principal team member of the Enterprise Architecture organization, ensuring this high-performing team coordinates delivery with enterprise strategies and roadmaps that are integrated and aligned with the business strategy.
Key Accountabilities - Maintain enterprise architecture documentation on a regular basis as a baseline for future projects, supporting roadmap updates and plans as appropriate.
- Set policies and standards to be followed in accordance with the requirements of the enterprise architecture system.
- Evaluate new technologies and provide recommendations for investment to establish novel or improve existing enterprise architectures.
- Design and build solutions to enable the latest technologies including internet of things, artificial intelligence, machine learning, sensor data processing and voice assistants.
- Lead market analysis and innovation by driving the team to generate new ideas and business streams to grow the business, improve safety and ensure service reliability.
- Act as consultant technical design authority for named portfolios/programs.
Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computing, science, mathematics or related discipline
- Well-versed with IT fundamentals including project delivery methodologies like Agile and Waterfall, IT investment/portfolio management, Enterprise Architecture, information risk management, ITIL, and Service Management
- Have used architecture tools such as System Architect, Rational Rose, Casewise, Aris or equivalent
- Additional professional qualifications or membership of relevant body/society is desirable
- Extensive experience with Legacy Maximo, Ellipse, Cascade
