The role: SpotX is looking for a highly talented and motivated Data Science Engineer . We are looking for someone who is versatile, methodical, excited by modern technology and enjoys focusing on tackling software challenges. Does that sound like you? How you'll make an immediate impact:

• Perform ad-hoc analyses and reporting for Operations and Engineering (HDFS, Spark, Kafka, Druid)
• Build mathematical, machine learning, and statistical models to discover actionable insights
• Develop proof-of-concept solutions for advanced reporting or automated decision-making
• Monitor, tune, and extend existing Data Science solutions/products
• Be a resource for the Data Analysis team for advanced reporting needs
• Retrieve, clean, transform and overlay 3rd-party data

What we're looking for:

• BS in CS/EE or equivalent coding background or certification
• Strong knowledge in Python and/or Scala as well as SQL
• Experience with streaming and batch big data workloads
• Strong CS fundamentals, such as algorithms and data structures
• Ideally able to code in GoLang, Java, C++ or other production software platforms
• Knowledge/familiarity with Machine Learning algorithms and Data Science
• Experience with Version Control such as git
• A track record of providing compelling insights based on data
• Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain focus in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
• Previous experience reading and writing data from SQL, Spark, Hadoop, Hive, and similar
