This role will serve as the head of finance for our newest business units, Industrial and Connected Worker, and you will interface frequently with the broader finance organization (accounting, FP&A, tax, and treasury), as well as cross-functional departments (operations, sales, people operations, and marketing). You will report to the head of FP&A and will be a member of the senior finance leadership team. This role is responsible for delivering value-added business analysis as well as defining and reporting financial and operational metrics that lead to insightful, accurate business decision-making. The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated, analytical, operational, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has a proven track record of building and leading a successful team.

This is a full-time position at our office in San Francisco and includes Lyft/Uber commuter benefits; RSUs; 401(k) match; catered lunch four days a week; and 100% coverage on medical, dental, and vision benefits.

In this role, you will:

• Work closely with the senior leadership team to define business strategy, policies, and procedures
• Implement a strong financial controls framework to ensure the delivery of timely reporting and analysis of financial results and KPIs
• Perform data-driven analysis to identify, evaluate and execute on value creation initiatives, investment opportunities, and risk mitigation strategies
• Provide commercial decision support to the business development and sales teams through profitability analysis and sales & margin forecasts
• Be operationally involved in wider areas of the business including CAPEX and investments to ensure planned ROI achievement, manage external relationships with legal and professional advisers, establish operational procedures with preferred vendors whilst partnering with the legal team to review contracts
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities in relation to existing customers and market
• Hire, develop, and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high performing team that partners with leaders across the organization to drive data-driven decision-making and accountability
• Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Obsess Over the Customer, Build for the Long Term, Growth Mindset) as we scale globally and across new offices

An ideal candidate has :

• 8+ years of relevant work experience at an investment bank, investment firm, or in an equivalent corporate role
• Bachelor’s degree (or advanced degree)
• Strong management and leadership skills with the ability to mentor and roll up sleeves
• Strong relationship building skills leading to an ability to drive fact-based decision making
• Ability to hit the ground running and take ownership of multiple work-streams simultaneously in a highly entrepreneurial environment
• Results-oriented, organized, efficient and resourceful team player that excels in a dynamic, collaborative environment
• Strong, analytical thinker focused on the optimization of investment decisions and measurement of outcomes
• Preference for experience with SaaS/subscription business models
• Experience with a range of ERP/financial planning solutions would be highly beneficial (Netsuite and Salesforce preferred)
