The Role
The role is to provide support and expertise to Bain consultants on a variety of cutting-edge tools and analysis techniques.
The Global Advanced Analytics Group (AAG) is an internal team dedicated to providing data analysis and support consultants across the world, focused on learning, using and training specialized software.
The AAG Analysts will work most of the time remotely for the people they support and therefore, will require excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to forge strong and successful working relationships without face-to-face interaction. This role requires interactions with Global Operations team members and consulting case teams across all Bain offices.

Responsibilities
Tasks and responsibilities listed below are potential areas of support. Each AAG Analyst will be asked to support and use a subset of tools and then broaden and/or deepen their knowledge over time.
Tasks
Learn and use the tools
- Learn complex software quickly
- Apply innovative solutions in building analysis using the software
- Work and balance time on various analytical requests such as geodemographic mapping, text analytics, data analysis and visualization
Communicate with case teams and potentially clients
- Scope of requests and assess the time and effort required to deliver flawless answers
- Effectively communicate analysis, results, and tools deployment methods to case teams
- Become a recognized and sought after expert regionally and/or globally
Set up new case teams on the tools
- Set up case teams with required licenses and tool-configuration
- Deliver internal technical demos remotely
- Provide training on the software for other team members and consulting case teams
Be the first point of contact for technical support (help desk)
- Provide clear, timely and action-focused answers and instructions
- Liaise with the software vendor on requests needing more complex technical support
Support tool-development
- Capture feedback from case teams to inform tool-enhancements
- Share relevant best practices from case work for cross-tool learnings
- Support the development and launch of new tools as required
Coach team members and document tool guides
- Teach junior colleagues how to use tools most effectively
- Take ownership of tools support material
Type of tools and analytical support
Prior experience in some of these activities is required. AAG Analysts will have the opportunity to work with a range of tools that support the following types of analysis:
- Data Cleaning, Blending and Analytics
- Data Visualization
- Text Analytics, Social Media and Web Scraping
- Geodemographic Mapping
- Experience with data extraction, transformation and loading (ETL)
- Primary research data weighting
- Driver analysis using different techniques like Shapley Values, multivariate regressions, decision trees, random forest
- Cluster analysis of transactional data
- Principal component analysis for dimension reduction
- Multidimensional scaling
- White space analysis for identification or high potential retail locations
- Data management using SQL, Alteryx and other similar platforms

Qualifications
Essential
- 2+ years of prior work experience in relevant fields (data analysis, consulting) OR Master’s degree within Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, computer science or software design/development or a comparable combination of education, training and experience
- Strong knowledge in some of the following topics: data blending and visualization, geospatial analysis, text analytics, web scraping and understanding of Excel
- Substantial experience in using Alteryx, Tableau, SQL

- Experience in using R and Python for data wrangling and exploration
Hours & travel
- Working hours will be set to accommodate service needs in supported Bain offices
- Some ad-hoc travel will be required (~30%) for training purposes and on-site collaboration with consultant teams and/or clients
