Pharmacist Program Manager is responsible for serving as the primary contact for a specific pharmacy program which may be assigned by geographic location, business unit, or functional area.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to :
- Manages both internal and external stakeholder communications for assigned area.
- Ensures the proper reaction to and resolution of issues concerning the pharmacy benefit program.
- Additional responsibility includes but not limited to the operation of Medicare Part D strategy.
- This includes from formulary creation during the bid period, through implementation, administration and oversight of the formulary during the monthly maintenance of business.
- In addition, the position will be responsible for assisting with Formulary strategy including utilization management creation and maintenance
- Acts as a support resource for the sales team regarding efforts to improve the performance of the pharmacy benefit for existing accounts.
- Requires a registered pharmacist; 2 years of managed care pharmacy experience including knowledge of current health care and managed care pharmacy practices; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
- Current state license to practice pharmacy as a RPH required.
- Professional designation preferred.
Fundamental Components included but are not limited to :
- Ability to think analytically to identify an issue, identify a solution with little impact to members and both internal and external teams.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for Medicare Part D rules and regulations specifically related to formulary, transition fill, and drug requirements.
- Ability to work in a high-paced, timeline driven environment
- Ability to understand how decisions made related to the formulary with impact claims adjudication and hence beneficiaries.
- Understanding of CMS formulary process, monthly Formulary Reference Files, Annual Bid Process, mid-year change process
- Ability to present reports, training etc. to leadership, internal and external partners at conferences etc.
