Responsibilities
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Logistics Planner position is designed to ensure efficient material flow with warehouse and planning activities related to keeping accurate inventory. This will be achieved through a focus on Continuous Improvement, a combination of advanced level Red Prairie/SAP/APO skills, and the ability to be self-directed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Inventory Accuracy/Control/Accounting
- Work with employees to improve inventory scanning and movement
- Ensure FIFO and scanning procedures are being implemented and utilized
- Assist with Weekly and Monthly Yard Check and RedPrairie Reconciliation
- Cycle count coordination, reconciliation and root cause investigation
- Assist in Warehouse DDS and metric reporting
- Collaborate with cross functional teams (Ops, Quality, Finance, Engineering, etc.) to deliver service goals, efficiency targets, PFEP and total landed cost
- Sustain correct material set up and audit RedPrairie and SAP
- Help to maintain a well-organized warehouse and disposal of test and obsolete materials
- Disposition Raw Material and Finished Product holds as directed by QRO & Logistics (QRO needs, Corporate dispositions and tracking, Internal Damage, Freshness, etc.)
Inbound & Outbound Orders – Shipping/Receiving Accuracy
- Collaborate with 3PL partners to execute daily plans and identify service risk
- Interplant Over/Shorts and Vendor Order issues & discrepancies
- Track discrepancies and work with employees & RedPrairie on root cause
- Track damage, incorrect trailers/seals/paperwork and work with employees to improve
- Shipping Accuracy reporting and root cause analysis
- Hold Order Management
- Help locate, isolate, verify, store and dispose of hold order product while on shift
- Back up for Witness Destroys and Carrier Claims
- Track and coordinate inventory movements
Project Execution
- Provide execution leadership for plant and operating unit-led ingredient and packaging change initiatives
- Support broader Logistics and plant initiatives/productivity projects
- Contribute to safety leadership and culture-building activities
Miscellaneous
- Work with logistics planners and employees managing trailers to minimize detention and other costs
- Train and review WMS/RP, HIFI, HOM, Receiving, and Shipping updates and procedures as needed
- Responsible for proper filing and storage of paperwork
- Assist in mock recalls
- Prioritize work and give direction to employees to facilitate efficient and timely inventory movement
- Provide on-call support as needed to support 24/7 manufacturing environment
Qualifications
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree
- Leads and encourages innovation
- Ability to be effective in a position with ambiguity that demands high levels of agility and flexibility.
- Ability to interact with and influence all levels of the organization and outside vendor contacts.
- Strong prioritization skills and ability to complete multiple tasks within a short timeframe.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, strong bias for action.
- Strong computer skills including extensive knowledge of SAP, APO, Red Prairie, MS Office Products and willingness to learn others.
PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Prefer experience in Logistics Planning, Production Scheduling, Materials Planning/MRP, Inventory Management or Transportation.
- Ability to utilize CI tools (YY, PBED, Fishbone, FMEA) to analyze existing processes and drive process improvements.
