Overview

The Research Informatics Operations (RIO) team is seeking a Business Partnership Manager to support the dynamic and ever-changing research informatics needs of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Research Informatics for Operations is a subdivision of the Dana-Farber Informatics and Analytics department led by the Chief Health Information Officer.

The Business Partnership Manager will manage a complex annual portfolio of high impact projects for the basic / pre-clinical research domain. The Manager will act as the business partner for research faculty and cross functional research programs, assisting with high-level strategic business requirements by identifying and analyzing key business processes involved for each of the domain areas (Basic Research, Animal Research and Research Administration). The Business Partnership Manager will be tasked to provide creative solutions and recommendations from the vast portfolio of products and services offered by the Research Informatics for Operations Department.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic initiatives to enhance the functionality and accessibility of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s computational resources and information technology platforms; create business strategies to facilitate the adoption of enterprise solutions
• Act as a strategic business partner amongst senior executives, management, and all levels of faculty and staff on current and future initiatives to ensure high-quality, high-impact decisions on technical solutions and innovative projects.
• Lead and facilitate multidisciplinary informatics teams in a complex, matrixed environment to solve problems, bringing resources together across groups (e.g. software engineering, scientific computing, mathematics, analytics, data management and visualization, project management) as needed.
• Collaborate with other Informatics and Analytics team members: departmental directors and teams to ensure alignment of work streams in accordance with Institute goals. Collaborators include the Senior Director of Computational Solutions, Director of Clinical Informatics, CIO of DFCI IS, Director of Data Warehouse, Director of Product Strategy and the Director of Customer Experience.
• Partner closely with Industry leading Cancer Investigators (researchers), the Chief Scientific Officer, the Chief of Clinical Research, the Chief of Research Operations and the Senior VP of Research Administration to strategize and prioritize solutions delivery
• Designs solutions and promotes product awareness to address all client needs and ensures maximum usage of existing solutions.
• Oversee the application of the various vendor systems and research technology platforms and services
• Develop initial high-level solution design s for system and workflow solutions in the following areas: lab information management, animal facilities management, clinical trials management, genomic sample management, cloud computing management and other leading edge domains
• Develops and maintains expertise for the Informatics and Analytics brand, products, capabilities and services to provide value to our researchers and their initiatives.
• Establish and communicate best-practices and operating policies to support a broad range of research activities.
• Assemble appropriate governance structures comprised of lead scientists and c-level executives to support prioritization or work, strategic directions, and tactical decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred. Concentrations in Business, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Biology, Basic Sciences, Chemistry, Computer Science, Lab Science, Information Technology, Informatics or another comparable field, preferred.
• 5+ years of direct analytical work experience in a client facing role, preferably within an academic, healthcare or life sciences setting. Comparable experience in other industries will be considered.
• 5+ years working with large-scale, enterprise information systems.
• 3+ years leading cross-functional teams comprised of direct and indirect resources
