Engineering Technician—CAD/CAM Detailing

This product engineering function will develop high detail (kitting-level) documents and installation sets primarily for the MEPF scope of KATERRA building platforms. These platforms are standardized buildings that can be constructed in many locations with minimal project customization needed. At KATERRA our buildings in incorporate leading edge infrastructure technology and developed to facilitate high degrees of manufacturing (i.e. prefabrication), construct-ability, and cost efficiency. The perfect candidate will also have strong communication skills and most importantly be driven to challenge ‘typical’ approaches.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The role will be a member of KATERRA's Building Platform Engineering team. His/her responsibility will include, but is not limited to:

• Develop LOD400 computer models for MEP systems based on engineering drawings and/or basis of designs.
• Produce MSD (Manufactured Shop Drawings) for prefabricated assemblies that will be built in a factory/off-site.
• Produce FID (Field Installation Drawings) for field installers detailing the exact locations and complete parts needs for installation.
• Occasionally develop Revit families as needed to complete modeling/detailing
• Coordinate with other Engineers, Technicians, field tradesmen, and manufacturing on part selection.
• Coordinate with other modelers, detailers, etc. for clash correction.
• Support development of new design methodologies and associated CAD tools.
• Support the ideation and development of prefab assemblies that accelerate field installation.

Required Skills & Experience

• 2+ years of experience in MEPF detailing/design at a US contractor
• Advanced knowledge and active experience in all the following tools: Revit, AutoSprink RVT, and NavisWorks
• Experience with PDF markup tools such as Bluebeam and Adobe Acrobat.
• Experience with various 3D modeling packages and analysis software outside of the construction industry a plus.
• Proven ability reading architectural, structural, mechanical and piping plans
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Location

Preferred: Scottsdale, AZ, Sacramento/Tracy, CA, Dallas or Austin, TX

Travel Requirements

Fluctuates (5% expected). Domestic travel.
