Job Description

OpenEye, an innovator in the design and development of cloud-centric software solutions for commercial video management systems, is seeking a Divisional Controller to join our growing team in the Liberty Lake, WA office.

The Divisional Controller role is pivotal to our organization. We are looking for an independent, hands-on, and self-directed individual that can own and manage all aspects of the business’ accounting and consolidation. This position reports directly to VP and Corporate Controller and will work closely with other members of the senior management team to help achieve the potential of our rapidly growing, public company. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic, ever-changing environment and possess an entrepreneurial mindset.

At a minimum, a successful candidate has least 10 years of relevant experience and at least 3 years of experience in a supervisory role leading all aspects of an accounting close and consolidation for a private or public company. Public company experience is preferred; however, other experience and qualifications will be considered.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Divisional Controller’s primary job responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the day-to-day accounting operations and ensure compliance with the business’ accounting policies and procedures
  • Oversee the timely closing and consolidation of the monthly, quarterly and annual books and records; this includes reviewing journal entries, reconciling balances, and ensuring accuracy by reviewing financial statements, investigating account variations and verifying account balances
  • Work closely with the VP & Corporate Controller and external auditors, leading the effort to assess the Company’s current compliance with SOX 404 and implementing controls and procedures to ensure compliance with SOX
  • Coordinate information for R&D tax credit on a yearly basis
  • Lead, train, develop, and motivate accounting staff in order to maintain a high level of employee commitment and competence for sustained and self-reliant performance and achievement of the department and Company goals
  • Design and implement sales commission plans
  • Ensure the identification of and compliance with key controls pursuant to the Company's SOX 404 compliance process and procedures
  • Assist in implementing and managing all international billing, financial accounting, and foreign compliance reporting operations as the Company continues to expand its business operations into new foreign countries
  • Work with other departments when accounting information or skills are needed to support ongoing efforts of the Company and increase financial reporting accuracy
  • Assist in researching applicable accounting standards to ensure internal and external compliance in recording and reporting transactions
  • Assist with external year-end audits including preparation of necessary work papers
  • Perform other related accounting/financial duties as requested by the VP & Corporate Controller and CEO

Required Experience:

  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA), required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, required
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience with a minimum of 3 years in a direct supervisory position within a private or public company
  • Public accounting experience
  • Public company experience with exposure to SEC filings
  • Advanced computer and Excel skills including pivot table and advanced formula knowledge
  • Comfortable working with large data sets, writing data queries, and providing strategic analysis
  • Experience working in manufacturing environment and implementing an ERP System
  • Experience with Canadian and US sales tax
  • Knowledge of costing methodologies
  • Knowledge of commission plan design and management
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP Accounting, especially related to current revenue recognition guidance
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Experience in researching, developing, and implementing accounting policies and procedures
  • Exceptional organizational, prioritization, decision-making, strategic-thinking, and planning skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to identify and pro-actively propose system and process improvements
  • Up to 15% travel, required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous work experience in the software industry, specifically in a SaaS business model, strongly preferred
