Job Description
Wish has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. User Researcher to form the foundation of our User Research team. Successful candidates will have extensive backgrounds in qualitative research methods especially foundational research and a track record of using research to drive the understanding, growth, and the success of a product. As a founding member of this team, you will be empowered and motivated to drive business impact via the application of user research. The Senior User Researcher will navigate and aid in product innovation for a global user community of over 500 million Wish buyers. They will build a deep understanding of users’ behavior and turn qualitative user research into insights to advise future product development and enhancements. The Sr. User Researcher will:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams of data scientists, user researchers, product managers, designers and engineers who are passionate about the Wish consumer experience
- Define, plan, and conduct user research including supporting the work of more junior colleagues
- Deliver compelling insights to help drive evidence-based product and design decisions
- Develop and innovate on our mixed-methods user research practice
- Bring focus to emerging needs and behaviors in ways that yield actionable insights
- Deploy insights to develop hypotheses the team can mature into design proposals and product recommendations
- Create innovative and flexible research techniques that balance proven methods with experimentation
- Clearly and persuasively communicate project findings and the reasoning behind them to internal stakeholders
- Play the role of storyteller to communicate user needs in ways that resonate, connect with and motivate internal audiences
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of experience in mobile / digital user research, working to understand and develop user decision and behavior models and frameworks to inform product and operation strategy
- Relevant Academic background including Graduate level education
- Experience applying research to help organizations discover / develop strategic opportunities and drive business outcomes from identifying customer needs
- A dedicated advocate of a user-centred approach to product development, while also balancing business needs
- Experience in applying various types of qualitative and quantitative methods coupled with a strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods
- Experience in mixed method is a plus
- Act as an ardent advocate for the user while deploying mature & advanced communication skills including:
- The ability to describe complex concepts clearly and persuasively to different audiences,
- Advanced data visualization skills
- Proficiency in presenting evidence and making recommendations to development teams
- Experience helping cross-functional partners unite around common interests.
- Biased towards action, and comfortable with ambiguity.
