Software Development Engineer in Test - Merchant Platforms

Through a simple browser extension, we open up instant access to exclusive savings, deals, rewards and discovery, all powered by the collective knowledge of Honey’s community of online shoppers. We are helping millions save when they shop online, and we're hiring! We are actively seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test to join the Merchant Platforms team in our new Seattle office. This team focuses on building new and innovative ways to scale the number of merchants working with Honey.

The Merchant Platforms’ team mission is to scale Honey to integrate with millions of merchants around the world. The more merchants on Honey means more savings for our customers. To achieve this, the team is responsible for building and maintaining business critical tools and services to support our internal partners and merchants. Our platform also on-boards new Honey merchants, finds deals and applies coupons for millions of Honey users, and places orders with merchants through the Honey mobile app.

As a Software Development Engineer in Test, you'll take ownership of establishing automation and testing for this org to ensure high quality releases. You can expect to work with a diverse set of teams that build both front experiences and backend services for merchants and internal stakeholders. Your contribution will impact how Honey provides a better way to buy online and make money more fair for everyone.

What You'll Do:

As a SDET at Honey, you will:

• Architect, design, write, review, and test code
• Implement automation to increase test coverage
• Work closely with engineers to test their releases
• Build tools to support automated testing of our features
• Make frequent contributions to our testing framework
• Improve quality assurance standards, techniques, and procedures
• Be a mentor to other QA Engineers and SDETs

About You:

• You have worked in a SDET role for a minimum of 5 years.
• You write idiomatic JavaScript/Node.js, Java, Python, C#, C++
• You use a modern version-control system for your source code repository - e.g., Git, Mercurial, GitHub, BitBucket
• You have experience with JUnit or TestNG
• You have experience with front-end testing tools (Selenium Web Driver, Grid)
• You know the difference between BDD and TDD and have experience with at least one
• You have experience with basic database queries (MySQL, Postgres, Mongo)
• You are comfortable working on the command line
• You are comfortable creating test suites with minimal documentation
• You take pride in automating repetitive tasks, no matter how simple
• You are able to manage your time well and provide accurate time estimates
• You want to own the code repository and are dedicated to maintaining high code quality
• You have great verbal and written communication skills

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

• Masters degree in CS or equivalent
• Passion for online shopping (or at least like a deal)
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform, CircleCI, Node.js, NPM, Git, GitHub, Golang, Kubernetes, Docker
