Data Scientist to apply their deep understanding of statistics, analytics, machine learning and programming to discover hidden opportunities, trends and patterns. Working on our platform, they will ask the right questions, connect the dots and design the right model to translate data into actionable insights. We are looking for a strong self-starter who will work closely with product management, engineering, design and research to co-create and drive a culture of curiosity and experimentation.
As a Data Scientist, you will:
- Identify opportunities for future product development or opportunities in existing products by analyzing data
- Contribute to projects involving descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analyses leveraging a variety of statistical techniques (such as segmentation, regression, survival analysis, principal component analysis, scenario and sensitivity analysis, neural networks, and machine learning)
- Lead all phases of a model development process from data processing, feature selection and engineering, model training and testing, and synthesizing information in reports
- Be the subject matter expert for current datasets and variables
- Identify opportunities to improve data collection, reporting, and analysis based on business needs
- Clearly define scope of work and deliverables in the business requirements
- Identify key product KPIs and analytics, and develop experiments to test thoroughly and validate development team’s output based on business requirements
- Synthesize large sets of structured and unstructured data from disparate sources
- Ability to table complex problems/concepts and synthesize into easily communicable findings to a variety of stakeholders using visualization and other means
- Develops benchmarks that measures the performance of our algorithms and telematics/connected car device services
Experience:
- Experience with supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques and algorithms, including but not limited to: clustering, regression, neural networks, reinforcement learning, anomaly detection, etc.
- Experience with the data science package ecosystem in Python (e.g. Pandas, SciKit-Learn, Numpy) as well as deep learning packages such as TensorFlow and PyTorch.
- Experience with building scalable data science packages to work in production data pipelines (Kafka and Redis experience strongly desirable).
- Experience designing and understanding results from experiments including, power analysis, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, and factor analysis.
- Understanding of how to visualize data to stakeholders and experience with BI charting tools as well as python-native visualization tools.
- Exceptional written and verbal skills to effectively translate business requirements and concepts across any layer of the organization and also be an active participant in business requirements development for new and existing reporting.
Requirements:
- Masters in Computer Science, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math, or other quantitative field
- 1+ years of relevant industry experience
- Passion for empirical research and answering hard questions with data
- Insatiable curiosity
Even Better if you have:
- Conceptual understanding of various database structures and their optimal uses. Snowflake, MySQL, Postgres, experience strong plus.
- Strong understanding of distributional statistics and experience applying advanced statistical methods to business and product problems.
