Music Library Coordinator

The Opportunity:

The Music Library Coordinator position calls for an experienced, creative, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and disciplined professional. A key component of this role is to coordinate large-scale quality evaluation of audio tracks and associated metadata. Additionally, the Music Library Coordinator will maintain a deep understanding of the library of tracks, and be able to provide timely, relevant and actionable reports based on sales and library composition data. This role is responsible for content quality standards and consistency, coherent and useful metadata, and content approval for inclusion in the Shutterstock music library, as well as data-driven analysis of the sales and composition of the music library to drive both sales and acquisition.

What you’ll do:

• Owner of technical and compliance quality evaluation for music library and supporting metadata.
• Coordinate metadata structure and content with a team of external contractors.
• Produce quarterly and ad hoc reports on sales trends, individual artists, and library composition to assist the sales team and music content purchasers.
• Develop new approaches to metadata to ensure customers are able to find the right content.
• Lead and participate in strategic programs designed to advance the consistency of review processes and workflow systems.
• Collaborate across teams to provide music library support.

What you'll bring:

• Hands-On: You should love rolling up your sleeves and working alongside the team.
• Domain expertise and enthusiasm for audio production, music categorization and playlist building.
• Knowledge of audio codecs, compression, and conversion techniques, and the ability to identify and communicate the presence of common mistakes in produced audio.
• Understanding of music composition rules and practice.
• Strong and nuanced understanding of music history and genre, in both Western and non-Western traditions.
• Strong memory for musical compositions, to ensure purchased tracks do not directly mimic popular songs.
• Experience with large, high-dimensional metadata and tagging schema.
• Experience with creative content operations and content management systems.
• Proven leadership skills. Excellent communicator, decisive, results-driven, people-oriented person with good interpersonal skills along with the ability to motivate teams and resolve time-critical issues.
• Solid data analysis and comprehension skills. Ability to capture and graph key sales and library composition data, demonstrate trends, and present key findings and actionable insights.
• Knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and graphs.
• Knowledge of typical stock licensing terms and business, as well as familiarity with the needs of stock music customers.

Qualifications: B.S., B.A., A.S. or Equivalent
