About the role

Robinhood is looking for an experienced leader to structure, build, and lead Robinhood’s Research Operations team, enabling us to scale our operations and insights along with our user base and product. You will work closely with our Head of Research, as well as with managers across our 3 teams (User Experience, Marketing Research, Behavioral Insights) to provide direction on operations strategy, maintain research visibility, and accelerate team efficiency. This role reports to the Head of Research and is part of the Research leadership team.

As a qualified candidate, you have a proven track record of building and managing teams that deliver strategic research operations solutions with measurable business value. You must become a trusted, strategic partner to your stakeholders, including articulating the vision of the research operations team. You’re excited by problem-solving within the research operations space, including refining or creating processes that allow us to prioritize research requests, collect and organize data, and connect teams with research insights, and are knowledgeable about research tools and vendors that help teams scale. You care deeply about people, and are excited about investing in their growth and career development.

Your day-to-day will involve:

• Building out your own team as we rapidly scale in 2020 and beyond
• Working closely with the Head of Research to identify and prioritize strategic research operations initiatives
• Building and maintaining programs that increase team efficiency, refine and optimize processes and documentation over time, maintain team health, and communicate and demonstrate the value of research to the business; creating or procuring systems to support these initiatives
• Leading and representing your team effectively through strong cross-functional relationships (e.g., with compliance, legal, security) to ensure communications compliance and data privacy
• Finding and implementing new ways to improve the effectiveness and development of the research team (e.g., conferences, speakers, training, new tools, etc.)
• Managing, mentoring, and inspiring a team of research operations professionals as they hone their craft, setting expectations for quality and impact
• Driving company-wide initiatives (e.g., OKR setting and scoring) within the research team

Some things we consider critical for this role:

• 6-8 years of work experience as a producer, project manager, or program manager with a background in operations scaling, supporting teams, and developing relationships, including 3+ years as a people manager.
• Experience laying the foundation for and scaling a research operations practice, increasing team efficiency, and guiding a research operations team as they enable the end-to-end research process
• Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills, as well as keen attention to detail
• Experience in a fast-paced environment that requires independent time management, task prioritization, and experience identifying problems and working toward solutions
• Effectiveness in championing, growing, and upskilling your team; demonstrated record of getting reports promoted
• A high degree of self-awareness
• Ability to think big and understand complex problems, and to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment
