Job Description
The Cross Company Strategic Initiatives team works in small project teams to find solutions to thorny business challenges selected by Facebook’s leadership, or bring order and structure to unblock critical workstreams across the company. At its core, [CSI] operates like an internal consulting group with the added complexity of (i) managing by influence, (ii) dealing with extreme ambiguity and (iii) working on only projects that are a top priority for executives. The [CSI] team defines and drives strategic, operational and organizational improvements across the company with the goal of maximizing impact on both the stakeholders that it supports and Facebook more broadly. They work on the most critical products and initiatives at Facebook, including Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus, AR/VR and Calibra. Typical projects might involve finding opportunities to mitigate risk for the company, or help stand up teams to develop the next phase of growth for Facebook. As a Director on the CSI team at Facebook, you will fully immerse yourself in organizing and leading high-profile projects and strategic initiatives. Key elements of the role include developing project plans from an ambiguous problem set, managing large groups of stakeholders from cross functional teams, and developing compelling, synthesized insights and recommendations. You will work either alone or with another member of the CSI team, managing workstreams and taking ownership of project outcomes and deliverables as you go. You will also use storytelling skills and presentations to persuasively communicate your recommendations to executives, and influence teams to make decisions and mobilize them towards execution. Over time you will build lasting relationships with colleagues across the Facebook Family of Apps, enabling you to execute rapidly with cross-functional support.
