Software Development Manager - Retail, International - (Remote/Europe)

You will strengthen relationships across the entire company and leverage these relationships as needed to unblock teams and deliver amazing products to users. As part of the Retail International team you will contribute to bringing the Retail products to international markets. This will include work to make Retail products compliant in different geographies, localized to respective regions and optimized for the different ways commerce is achieved around the world. This is what you will you be doing: -Lead a cross functional team of backend, frontend and mobile developers. -Contribute code to POS app and Shopify web. -Build high quality, globally available, fault tolerant systems and products. -Work on problems with your team, roll up your sleeves, form an opinion and advocate for engineering-specific roadmap items. -Work with product, UX and other disciplines to discover the best solutions for our merchants. -Be a technical influencer across the company. Provide technical direction through technical design reviews, GitHub pull requests, and pair programming. -Grow the team both through internal development and help with external hiring. To be successful in this role you will need: -Proven technical leadership skills using technologies and frameworks including (but not limited to) Ruby on Rails, Java/JEE, Node.js , PHP, Python -Proven leadership skills -Experience building and successfully growing development teams -A commitment and drive for quality, technical excellence and results -Experience designing and developing APIs, and ideally developing your own app(s) on platforms like Shopify At Shopify, we are committed to building and fostering an environment where our employees feel included, valued, and heard.
