We focus on innovative solutions, expanding our in-house technologies and maximizing evolving ad tech trends to generate revenue for our collection of websites.

The Role: Business Intelligence Developer

The Programmatic Advertising team is looking for an analytical and motivated individual to learn and support our programmatic advertising efforts. You will be a part of a recognized and passionate team that is focused on advanced monetization strategies to bring our amazing web products to students, free of charge.

As a BI Developer at Chegg, your role is to be an expert at understanding Chegg’s Programmatic Revenue data. This is a unique role that requires you to be fully involved in business strategy and day-to-day execution of revenue operations. Your involvement in these aspects of the business is critical for the success of this role, as you will be assessing areas for improvement in our data offering based on the needs of the business. We expect you to aid the yield team in piping data from our partners into our enterprise BI and analytics tools, managing and automating the tasks of a financial reporting database, and creating visualizations for use across the organization.

The BI Developer will work in concert with the Yield, Engineering, and Data Science teams to support our goals and initiatives. You will own the quality assurance of the data that is instrumental in driving business decisions in the fast-paced advertising industry. While prior experience in digital advertising isn’t required, you should have a passion for understanding and interpreting big data, and a desire to learn all aspects of the programmatic advertising space. Strong detail-orientation, organizational skills, and a strong desire to learn will make you successful in this role.

What you’ll be working on:

• Owning the accuracy and completion of daily ad revenue reports by maintaining and improving ETL processes for ad revenue data
• Improving data reliability, efficiency and acting as the authority on data quality and accuracy for all ad revenue data.
• Creating and maintaining institutionalized dashboards for the business, with the opportunity to innovate and improve existing dashboards and metrics
• Supporting analysts with data queries and dashboard creation used for business decision making and performance monitoring.
• Creating data flow documentation
• Developing and upholding data management strategies

Requirements:

• Strong analytical skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Expert in SQL, Excel, and comfortable using data visualization tools such as Kibana, Domo, Looker, Tableau, Etc.
• Willing to question the validity and accuracy of data, and equally motivated to identify and solve the challenges that come with big data collection and analysis.
• Proven track record in compiling data into comprehensive reports, demonstrating the ability to analyze trends and make impactful recommendations based off findings.
• Eager to learn the ins and outs of the digital advertising industry.

Preferred Experience

• Proficiency with JavaScript and/or Python
• Proficiency in writing complex SQL
• Proficiency in Tableau, Looker, Domo or one of major reporting suites
• Familiarity working with APIs
• Experience with AWS
• Experience with databricks
• Experience with database management, specifically RedShift or PostgreSQL
• Experience with AB testing principles
• Experience with git version control system
