Job Description
DescriptionOverall Objectives
The Sr. Product Developer is responsible for owning specific category/categories. They partner with design, raw materials, technical design and production to develop and execute product consistent with design’s vision and Victoria Secret’s global sourcing strategy. The Sr. Product Developer manages the development and execution of products from concept to a pass off to production, with a focus on on-time, quality, products at the right cost, with the required speed and flexibility in support of the brand strategy. This role requires a high level of influence with global cross functional partners and ownership of the costing process, including negotiation and management of costs. This role may manage others.
Responsibilities
- Develops new products from design ideation phase through final sample approvals for a product category
- Manages tech pack pass off at the category level, working with design and regional office to answer development questions
- Launches sample and proto yardage requests with vendors and regional office
- Creates and maintains sample tracking log
- Sets us and organizes costing charts, follow up on outstanding costs
- Works on costing options for margin improvement & negotiates costs w/ vendors
- Shares costs and costing updates with design, merchandising and planning teams
- Manages updates to bills of materials (BOMs) in Flex PLM
- Troubleshoots costing and construction issue in development of the product
- Leads cross-functional product readiness meetings for product category
- Tracks seasonal development ratios
- Joins fittings with an eye toward impact to costing
- Attends and can represent manager in key meetings
- Oversees sample tracking as well as sample allocation across vendor base
- Oversees product costing and cost engineering and drives cost discussions with functional team leaders
- Acts as the “Control Tower” across cross-functional teams to ensure all deliverables are being met to deliver on-time, quality product at the right cost
QualificationsQualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related area or equivalent experience
- 5-8 years related product development experience
- Detail-oriented and organized with strong follow-through
- Flexible and adaptable to change
- Keen written, verbal and electronic communication skills, computer proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
- Working knowledge of Flex PLM, Salesforce experience a plus
- Experience working with Design and Merchandising
- Ability to be a team player and foster a commitment to teamwork with other associates
- Ability to communicate design aesthetic direction to vendors/regional offices
- Experience with overseas suppliers, agents or offices
- Working knowledge of garment construction
- Detailed understanding of product costs and cost options
