Who You'll Work With

You will join the Atlanta Client Capability Hub as part of our Manufacturing & Supply Chain (MSC) Solutions organization, a component of McKinsey’s Operations practice that focuses on deeply tech-enabling our client service. MSC-Solutions comprises a suite of internal and 3rd party tools, proprietary analytics, and benchmarking database that accelerates diagnostics and transformations. You will work directly with our clients and McKinsey colleagues to deploy our assets and ensure we bring tangible, lasting impact to clients. Primarily, you will work from your base office. Additionally, you will have opportunity to travel for client work and for internal team and practice events periodically.

What You'll Do

You will play an active role in the client engagement with a primary focus on manufacturing shop floor analytics on processes and equipment.In this role, you will have specific project activities that will include performing diagnostics and enhancing our tools while working with manufacturing experts across McKinsey. You will apply our digital and analytical capabilities to assess opportunities in one or more the following areas: sensor-driven diagnostics, asset productivity, OEE, labor productivity, predictive maintenance, energy efficiency, yield and throughput optimization as well as decarbonization and sustainability. You will formulate a program with appropriate focus on a subset of these categories over time. This includes gathering and analyzing data, running a suite of analytics to assess and quantify opportunities, and developing and communicating recommendations. In between studies, you will bring your learnings back to our internal team to further improve and automate data capture, analytics and presentation of insights to clients. You will help us strategize next-generation approaches where we either develop proprietary McKinsey tools or selectively partner with third party companies. Through your work, you’ll have opportunities to present results to client management and implement recommendations in collaboration with client team members. You’ll gain new skills and build on the strengths you bring to the firm.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or master’s degree in a technical field (science, engineering)
  • 1-4 years of work experience in a technical field or in manufacturing environments such as chemical, automotive and industrial, pharmaceutical, steel or electronics
  • Understanding of manufacturing concepts such as lean/agile, yield, throughput, OEE, energy efficiency
  • Demonstrated aptitude for analytics
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in high impact cross-functional teams
  • Proven record of leadership in a work setting and/or through extracurricular activities and an entrepreneurial bent
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively – both verbally and in writing – in English
  • Willingness and excitement to travel and work internationally
