Job Description

About us

Our mission is to help software teams execute and make decisions faster, encourage healthy cross-functional collaboration, and grow as an organization without losing speed.

Design is in our DNA. Our Co-founder, Andrew Childs, studied art and design at RISD and has 20 years of experience crafting digital products. Our CEO, Kurt Schrader, has 20 years of experience as an engineering leader. We believe design details add up and ultimately determine if a product is delightful to use. We like experimenting, trusting our intuition, and creative problem-solving over following a rigid process. We believe diverse perspectives result in a more collaborative environment, and ultimately a better user experience.

About the role

As a leader on our design system team, you’ll help us scale our best design decisions across every customer touchpoint. You'll be responsible for leading the accessibility and technical tooling of the end-to-end customer experience. In addition, you’ll help teams navigate and triage user experience design problems by offering a system-oriented perspective to help your teammates select appropriate solutions.

Salary Range: $175,000 to $200,000 USD (depending on location and experience)

What you’ll do

  1. Deeply understand the technology and features of our design system and related component libraries.
  2. Lead critical architectural decisions about how the design system will be built and then scale those decisions as the system matures
  3. Serve as an advisor for teams seeking the best ways to make products accessible using our design system.
  4. Create and maintain documentation, training materials, and other methods of driving the design system’s adoption
  5. Code, review, and maintain component templates.

Qualifications

  1. Three or more years working on design systems in a lead role
  2. At least five years working on a team that builds web applications using React.js or other frameworks
  3. Experience coaching engineers and designers in accessibility topics
  4. A passion for creating accessible products

What we offer

In addition to a competitive salary and benefits, we offer a sizable equity stake in the company. You’ll work on a solution that improves the lives of the teams who use it. We want and value your input as we work sustainably and iterate in the right direction. We expect you to work at your natural pace, take time off as needed, and maintain a healthy life/work balance. We all have lives outside of work (family, travel, hobbies, etc.), and there's no expectation of working after hours or over the weekend.

We are an equal opportunity employer, and we value diversity at our company. Therefore, we do not discriminate based on race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
