Senior Software Engineer (Ruby/Infrastructure)

• Working on a technically challenging product meeting real customer (& carrier!) needs
• Collaborating with peers across the US in a friendly, open, environment where you can learn, grow, and have a disproportionately large impact
• Engineering for scale, reliability, maintainability, and security
• Refactoring a monolith into a burgeoning constellation of services
• Thinking to break down thorny problems into quick experiments we can all learn from
• Evaluating technology needs, suggesting changes, running trials, and communicating about results
• Ruby on Rails API development, Python microservices, MySQL, Redis, Cassandra, running on simple & elegant Linux orchestration, with Rust & Go helping where they offer the most lift

About you:

• Experience delivering software using an incremental approach
• Perspective and opinion coupled with the humility to handle admitting mistakes quickly
• 4+ years of experience working in SaaS or Cloud environment
• Strong engineering ability in multiple languages - Ruby on Rails and Python are a plus
• Knowledge of e-commerce or shipping is great
• Experience doing backend work, with a focus on core services, infrastructure, or scaling and managing a RESTful API
• Database knowledge - SQL and NoSQL
• Computer Science degree (or relevant industry experience with demonstrable CS fundamentals) and eligibility to work in the United States
