Our learners are not only attending lambda to gain the technical knowledge and skills they need to become jr developers or jr data scientists, they are also here to learn the soft skills needed to land their first job in tech. This instructor will guide the learners through their job readiness part of the program ensuring their verbal communication, written communication, interviewing skills, and GCA testing is top notch to ensure they achieve their career goals. Our program and our staff are fully remote. The school operates on Pacific Time and this role covers our full-time learners. *** This is a part-time contractor role up to 10-12 hours per week during weekdays between 4PM and 6 PM or 7PM and 9PM Pacific Time zone. ***

What You'll Do:

• Teach live classes via Zoom explaining technical interviewing and job search best practices.
• This is a part-time contractor role up to 10-12 hours per week during weekdays between 4PM and 6 PM or 7PM and 9PM Pacific Time zone.
• Guide your learners to excel in technical interviewing, technical resume writing, job search and applications, LinkedIn & Github profile buildout, and support in their development of soft skills and professional behaviors.
• Allocate time for proactive outreach for academic help on a weekly basis.
• Provide learner support in the form of office hours, live chat, and 1:1 sessions as needed. Provide and document curriculum feedback on a regular basis
• Report to Lambda School on learner progress and successes throughout the course.
• Develop teaching strategies to maintain high learner engagement
• Demonstrate high empathy and ability to encourage learners who are struggling as well as provide additional challenges to the learners who are excelling
• Collaborate cross-functionally

What You'll Need:

• 3+ years experience in technical recruiting and/or career coaching is required
• 2+ years of teaching experience is strongly preferred
• Worked with and/or providing career support to software developers and/or data science roles is strongly preferred
• Ability to coach learners on how to improve their professional skills to set them up for success during their technical job search
• Expert level understanding of technical interviewing
• Process-oriented with exceptional attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Self-starting with the ability to effectively work autonomously with little oversight
• Extremely comfortable and compelling in public speaking situations
• Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
• Data-driven approach: you’re motivated by metrics, and use these to inform how you approach your work
• Create solutions that scale: you identify ways to make processes more efficient and do more with less, without sacrificing quality
