Job Description

NerdWallet is looking for an SEC Manager to take part in our mission to provide clarity for all of life's financial decisions.It is a great time to join our world class accounting team with one of the fastest growing fintech companies.The SEC Manager will be a leader within the Finance organization with exposure to the leadership team with industry veteran executives that has built an industry-leading company and brand known for innovation, quality and objectivity.This person will report to the Senior Director of Financial Reporting as an individual contributor working directly with key groups throughout the Company.

Where you can make an impact:

• Manage the preparation and distribution of all financial statements for external use, including direct collaboration with key groups including Corporate Accounting, Equity Accounting, Technical Accounting Policy, Investor Relations, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Legal
• Ensure that reports, filings and documentation comply with SEC regulations and GAAP reporting guidelines
• Research technical issues, changes in reporting requirements and evolving industry trends, and formulate proposals and recommendations
• Work directly with our external auditors, providing pragmatic solutions and alternatives to challenging reporting requests, timing and inquiries
• Monitor the development and applicability of emerging accounting and reporting rules being deliberated by the SEC, US GAAP, or other regulations
• Responsible for financial statement disclosures, including research of technical guidance, regulatory requirements and benchmarking against other companies
• Manage global statutory reporting of international subsidiaries through coordination with external auditors in US and local offices

Your experience:

• 5+ years related experience, either Big 4 accounting or a mix of Big 4 and industry experience
• Strong technical accounting background with a thorough knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting standards, as well as experience with technical research
• Active Certified Public Accountant or Chartered Accountant or equivalent
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
• The ideal candidate must enjoy working in a fast paced and constantly changing environment across many different functions within the business and the finance organization
• Demonstrates business acumen with the ability to provide solutions that drive positive result
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a team environment working with others
• Experience with Workiva and Oracle Financials Cloud or other reporting compliance platform
