Creativity Team Lead - Floor Consoles

Responsible for leading Floor Consoles Creativity Team. Primary responsibility is to develop and implement CT strategies by working with the cross functional stakeholders to meet sourcing and cost savings deliverables. Work is of a complex nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and a high level of independent judgment.

Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a robust commodity strategy based on the market and technology trends
  • Maintain sourcing pipeline and Business Over Time data, benchmarking data, CT strategy presentations, global budget and sourcing on-time metrics
  • Manage global Creativity Team meetings via teleconference, web meeting, and face to face
  • Lead ECT meeting with Cross-functional disciplines
  • Development and execution of a business plan to meet business priorities
  • Support global/regional buyers with resolution of commercial and operational issues
  • Keep abreast of current product developments and trends in areas of expertise
  • Adhere to corporate purchasing and accounting practices and procedures
  • Utilize the GPSC sourcing process to manage sourcing packages (RFQ, Quote Analysis and Source Selection) and to establish a capable/competitive global supply base
  • Analyze and apply appropriate tools, i.e., benchmarking, global competitive sourcing, value chain analysis, supplier negotiations, engineering change cost containment, technical cost reduction, part/system reuse, etc.

Additional Job DescriptionEducational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent training
  • Degree in Engineering, Accounting, Business, Supply Chain Management and/or MBA preferred

Required Skills:

  • Direct Material purchasing experience
  • High level of capability to work independently
  • Highly proficient oral and written communication skills
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Knowledge of corporate purchasing policies and procedures
  • Ability to prioritize assignments/projects and multi-task within restricted time constraints
  • Experience managing commercial issues with suppliers and assessing supplier performance
  • Demonstrated high competence in negotiating skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft office products - Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience

Preferred Skills:

  • Automotive industry experience
  • Knowledge of procurement software
  • Knowledge of materials management
  • Capable of interpreting market data
  • Ability to travel when required up to 10%, including international travel
