We have built a solid data foundation and we are seeking a Data Engineer to help us define and realize our vision for trustworthy data across the company and help us move to next. This is a unique opportunity to join a very small Data Engineering team for a strong, and high potential company early in its lifecycle. *Candidate must be located in US (Remote) or Vancouver, B.C.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with team leads, engineers, product managers and data analysts to recognize data needs while applying best practices
• Design, implement and manage scalable batch/ real-time data processing pipelines used for exploratory data analysis
• Contribute to shared Data Engineering tooling & standards to improve the productivity and quality of output for Data Engineers/ engineers across the company
• Own and extend our data pipeline by collecting, storing, processing, and transforming large data sets
• Improve data quality by suggesting new ones, using & improving existing internal tools to automatically detect issues
• Educate your partners: Use your data knowledge to identify and address gaps in their existing processes

Required Skills and Experience:

• 2-3 years of Data engineering experience
• Bachelor's Degree in related field
• Ability to ask questions even in high-stakes situations
• Ability to give and take feedback constructively
• Working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL)
• Build/maintain scalable Spark data pipelines leveraging scheduler/executor framework
• Demonstrated ability to solve data engineering problems in Python/Scala
• You enjoy working on a small highly focused team at a lean startup
• Familiarity with the Unix ecosystem
• Understanding of distributed systems and their nuts and bolts to achieve performance

Nice to Have:

• AWS ecosystem
• Exposure to marketing analytics and ecosystem (Google Analytics, Facebook Ads, Google Ads, etc)
• Airflow, Glue, EMR
• Familiarity with building or maintaining data quality measuring systems

About Tile Tile is best known today for its market-leading Bluetooth finders with over 35 million units sold and ~5M items located daily. That said, Tile has recently expanded the devices that are findable by its platform by embedding its software into third-party products. Over 30 billion Bluetooth devices are shipping over the next 5 years and each of these can be Tile-enabled with a software update. Partnerships have been announced with HP for laptops, leading audio headset OEMs like Bose and SkullCandy, and several others. Tile also has a large portfolio of unannounced OEM partnerships with top brands in many other large verticals (e.g. wearables, bikes, etc.) and is integrating its technology on the Bluetooth chips to make the Tile enablement more seamless for these partners (e.g. Tile has a partnership with Intel for PCs). In addition to the OEM and chip partnerships, Tile is scaling its finding network by entering into access point partnerships with companies like Google, Amazon, and Comcast (all announced and ongoing). From a business model perspective, Tile is shifting the relationship with its customers from a transactional device sale to offering a long-term, high-value service. Tile introduced its premium service two years ago and has ~400K subscribers today with a specific focus on growing annual recurring revenue.
