The Role We’re looking for an empowering Software Engineering Manager to lead our Operations engineering team. The Operations team is responsible for building tools that make other teams at Zeus, like our customer support or maintenance teams, more productive. You will build a team of 5-8 engineers and collaborate in a cross-functional team with a product manager and product designer. You are a good engineer in your own right, but are passionate about leading a team and getting the most out of others. You are an excellent communicator and will work with other leaders in the engineering and tech org to set standards and goals.

What You’ll Do

• Manage a team of engineers to help them achieve the right balance of quality, functionality, and schedule to meet product objectives. Give them clarity and energy so they can deliver results.
• Mentor a team of engineers, give them guidance, and help them achieve their goals. Identify areas of growth and opportunities to advance their skills
• Identify what roles are needed for your team and work with the Talent team to hire them
• Set the culture and vibe for your team in line with Zeus’ cultural values. Ensure psychological safety for team members.
• Communicate with your respective product and business teams about the product roadmap. Give input about the engineering effort needed for roadmap items and how we can maximize impact on business KPIs
• Work with other engineering managers and teams on department-wide decisions: tech debt, development process, testing, bug handling, technical standards, developer tools, etc
• If necessary, get your hands dirty and do some coding

What You Bring

• Significance years of experience as an engineering manager or team lead, 5+ years experience as an engineer
• Servant leadership style
• Ability to communicate a motivating vision for your team
• Ability to build highly collaborative and inclusive teams
• Ability to build relationships across the company and communicate effectively
• Ability to identify strengths and weaknesses of your team and address them
