About the Role:

Credible is seeking an experienced SEO and people manager with a strategic and creative mindset to lead our Organic Marketing team. In this role, you will scale Credible’s Organic Marketing channels and further establish Credible as a top SEO authority in the consumer finance space.

The Director of Organic Marketing is a highly cross-functional and visible role whose primary responsibility is refining and iterating on Credible's Content and SEO strategy. You must have deep knowledge of the levers it takes to generate SEO success and be able to clearly articulate those requirements into conversations with cross-functional teams such as Content, Product, and Engineering. In this position, you will manage five incredible SEO team members, and an Editor-in-Chief that has four direct reports, with room to grow the team over time.

This is an excellent position for a hungry and curious SEO who is passionate about pushing through their vision and who enjoys building business cases backed by numbers, managing a P&L, and leading an energized team.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and cultivate Credible’s SEO team culture
  • Communicate SEO knowledge so that other teams at Credible are empowered to hold themselves accountable to a high bar of SEO excellence
  • Build and execute SEO and Content strategies, both internally and with highly reputable media partners
  • Set annual SEO strategy for all products, including prioritization, expected lift, required resources, and timelines
  • Define top-down position, traffic, and revenue goals and bottoms-up plans to achieve those targets
  • Lead strategy for off-site content development channels (media partners)
  • Work with Product Managers and Engineering teams to set priorities on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Responsible for Credible’s SEO tool set. Manage vendor relationships and educate the SEO team on how to get the most out of them. Expected to be up to date with the latest technologies and capabilities so your team can continuously extract value
  • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to ensure that what they build supports SEO program health. Leverage internal data and SERP observations to derive SEO based hypotheses ripe for product support
  • Mentor your team to support our vertical GM’s, PMs and content leads who cultivate vertical-specific on-page SEO strategy
  • Lead P&L + budgeting for team, managing to a net margin target. Develop numbers-backed proposals for any additional investment required
  • Develop, inspire and motivate a high-performing team, including people managers. Be an expert at best practices for SEO and instill that thinking within the team. Manage outsourced relationships
  • Continually analyze acquisition and growth efforts to find areas to double down on, stop, and iterate on. Challenge the status quo
  • Build content support function for cross-functional teams (Lifecycle marketing, Mortgage BOF, Paid Marketing)
  • Engage and collaborate cross-functionally with senior leadership to report results and solve issues

Education and Experience:

We understand not everyone will meet all of these requirements. If you meet most of the criteria below and you’re excited about the opportunity, we’d love to hear from you.

  • 8+ years of total experience including 6+ in the SEO space
  • Track record of building and executing large-scale SEO strategies
  • Financial services industry
  • Budget or P&L Management
  • 3+ years people management
