​​Neighborhoods.com is looking for a remote, work from home, back-end engineer with Wordpress and PHP experience to join our team as a Wordpress Services Engineer. This role will have a direct and immediate impact on our business through building stable and effective data pipelines and replacing a home-grown CMS with Wordpress tooling. This engineer will report to the engineering manager who oversees our Lead Generation pod, and will interact directly with business stakeholders who use the tools.

What you'll be doing as a Wordpress Services Engineer:

• Replacing all the features on a home-grown CMS tool within a Wordpress environment
• Building integration services that allow us to add in image handling projects for front-end teams
• Modifying microservices that help customers search more efficiently on our websites
• Supporting Wordpress site migration service needs
• Creating effective and stable architecture

Essential Qualifications:

• Technical Skills
• Wordpress
• PHP
• Python
• AWS Services (Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions)
• Structured database (e.g. MySQL, SQL, PostGres, etc)
• Git
• Active listener and communicator
• Day-to-day working knowledge of:
• modern relational and non-relational databases, their features, and how those features work under the hood
• massively parallel distributed concurrency
• logstream concepts and tooling
• data visualization, monitoring, and alerting concepts and tooling
• building highly distributed systems
• dependency management systems
• dependency injection
• object oriented design patterns
• unit, integration, behavioral, performance, availability, stress, and load testing
• modern hardware design fundamentals

Nice to Have - experience with:

• Agile Software Development
• Experience in software architecture
• Experience as a technical lead or coach to other developers
• Experience in refactoring AWS Service implementations to reduce cost

Education and Experience:

• 2+ years of experience as a software engineer (internships count!)
• Experience as part of a team of engineers writing services for enterprise architecture
• Some college experience preferred
