About your role

We’re a strong engineering team that is building a platform to enable restaurants to compete in a world being threatened by the disruptive e-commerce businesses. With millions of users and thousands of businesses on the platform, we’ve found strong product-market fit and are growing rapidly. We’re building out massively scalable backend systems and APIs, beautifully designed user experiences, and highly intelligent marketing tools. We take pride in our platform and recognize the value of paying down tech debt, investing in the future, and truly making our codebases enjoyable to operate in. As Thanx continues to quickly grow, we’re expanding our engineering team.

  • Frontend: React, React Native, Redux, Typescript

  • Infrastructure: AWS, Fargate, Terraform, Docker, Kafka
  • Data: Fivetran, dbt, Snowflake, Looker
  • Development: CircleCI, Github, Datadog, Sentry

At Thanx, we deploy hundreds of different mobile applications (both iOS and Android) across many restaurants using Thanx. While these applications are brand-first and highly customizable, they are all powered through a single React Native codebase.

The mobile app operations role is responsible for managing the creation and configuration of new mobile apps, coordinating regular app updates and releases, and improving the automation of our branded app processes.

This is a brand new operationally-focused role at Thanx. As a founding member of this role, the individual that joins us in this role should be technically-oriented, highly organized, and accountable. We are open to considering both part-time and full-time positions.

Responsibilities

  • Configuring new mobile applications
    • Following well-documented instructions to configure new mobile applications
    • Navigate both iTunes Developer Accounts and Google Play Store to manage configuration of new mobile apps
    • Use git, Github, and CircleCI to manage new applications through new app creation processes
  • Coordinating regularly app releases of all Thanx-managed mobile app releases
    • This process is already heavily automated through Fastlane and CircleCI, but still requires management
    • The goal is to aim for a monthly cadence of app releases
  • Improving app operations automation
    • Improving and iterating on existing mobile app automation via CircleCI and Fastlane
    • Iterating on existing and creating new processes to enable consistent and predicatble delivery and update of mobile apps
    • Ensuring codebase dependencies of Fastlane automation is updated as needed to ensure CI systems still work smoothly
    • Resolution of any issues that may arise with creation or updates of mobile apps
  • Additional mobile app operations
    • Upgrading APNS certificates — already automated, but requires oversight
    • Coordinating with merchant support to ensure restaurant-managed Apple Developer accounts are in good standing.
