Our platform engineering team is tasked with building and maintaining a massive distributed system which innovates and supports all of Marin applications and products. We focus on speed, stability, scalability, and security of platform performance while facilitating big data technologies to solve complex challenges from different engineering teams.

About The Team and Marin, Java

Applicants welcome from anywhere in the US, although will be required to work closely and align hours, with San Francisco team (Pacific Time).

Marin’s Data Platform team builds our core data infrastructure including transactional data (OLTP), metric data (OLAP) and the related ETL pipelines. Our platform is built running on Hadoop, using HBase, Phoenix and Presto, and we make heavy use of Spark, Spark Streaming, HDFS, Kafka, Oozie, ZooKeeper and YARN.

If you are or strive to be an expert in service implementation, if you can read documentation and open-source code, are excited to participate in the Hadoop community, and if you thrive on deep-diving into gnarly production issues related to big-data platforms, you belong with us!

Responsibilities

• Enhance and maintain our data access layer (services) that sits between our application services and our OLAP and OLTP datastores.
• Enhance and maintain our framework support services
• Design, build, and unit-test object-oriented, scalable, and maintainable services on top of the Hadoop ecosystem and RDBMS and data warehouses
• Actively monitor, optimize, tune, and configure the service performance

Requirements

• BS/MS in Computer Science or related discipline
• Significant development experiences for microservices in Java
• At least 3+ years of experience in Java/J2EE and related technologies with solid understanding of design principles
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• Familiarity with most of the following: RDBMS, RESTful API, Hibernate, HBase, Phoenix
• Critical thinking and problem solving
• Enjoy troubleshooting production issues related to big-data platforms

We offer a good base salary, wide ranging medical, parental, and inclusive benefits including RSU -Stock in the business. Open to 100% Fully Remote working (anywhere if you are within the US!) or you can work some days in our San Francisco or Austin offices.

For Colorado-based roles: Minimum annual salary of $90,000-$170,000+. We want to hire the right candidate and the salary may increase. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits.
