The Engagement Manager - Carbon Program Monitoring is a member of Aspiration’s Sustainability Department supporting the Carbon Program team. The Manager will report to the Director of Carbon Program Engagement and support all day-to-day operations, management and monitoring of restoration and carbon offset partnerships. The function of the Program Engagement team is to provide technical expertise, project design and monitoring guidance and on-going support to Aspiration’s carbon and restoration project partners. This role will encompass both technical responsibilities such as data analysis, research and reporting as well as on-going relationship development with our project partners. It is essential that the Manager brings a strong analytical, interpersonal, and collaborative skillset. This position is fully remote and can be based anywhere in the U.S.
What You'll Do:
- Support the Director of Carbon Program Engagement in operations, management and monitoring of restoration and carbon offset project partnerships
- Oversee project partners’ monitoring and reporting deliverables to ensure timely reporting and feedback
- Develop strong relationships with project partners around the globe to understand and support their on-going needs
- Utilize monitoring tools to conduct basic data analysis and reporting of key indicator project data in alignment with the carbon and restoration monitoring strategy
- Perform due diligence evaluations of restoration and carbon offset projects against Aspiration quality criteria, including academic research and project and verification documentation reviews
- Conduct research to identify new restoration partners to expand restoration program or in response to requests from business development and partner marketing teams
- Provide carbon offset and tree planting monthly internal reporting
- Develop presentations and reports on carbon and restoration program for internal and external use
- Coordinate monitoring and evaluation partners and product vendors
- Provide support to internal marketing, business development, audit, financial, and other teams on items related to restoration and carbon offset projects
- Travel abroad to support Director of Program Engagement to conduct on site, field-based monitoring, evaluations and due diligence on existing and new projects, as needed
What You'll Bring:
- 3-4+ years experience in climate change, carbon offsets, ecosystem restoration, or regenerative agriculture; and
- 2-3+ years experience in international project monitoring and evaluation
- Analytical mindset and ability to conduct basic quantitative data analysis
- Confidence in traveling abroad and working in remote, and sometimes challenging, field conditions with limited amenities
- Familiarity with core principles of carbon offset quality criteria and frameworks for sustainability and related reporting, e.g. GHG Protocol, SBTi, VCMI, ICVCM, UNSDGs
- Maintain an understanding of the relevant standards and certifications in use in voluntary carbon markets
- Exceptional interpersonal and collaborative skills, bringing empathy and cultural sensitivity to partnership interactions
- Excellent project coordination and program management skills
- Strong research, communication, and presentation skills
