Senior Software Engineer, Data Products

Job Description

Part of the central Core Infra organization, the Data Products team seeks to make the petabytes of data at Discord easily accessible to everyone at the company. We build full-stack applications, tooling, and frameworks to improve the productivity of teams at Discord with strong data needs, in particular our product, analytics, and machine learning teams. • Design and Build tooling and frameworks to improve the productivity of Discord's product, analytics, and machine learning teams, using modern technologies such as BigQuery, Kubernetes, Apache Beam, Pub/Sub, and Airflow.
• Care deeply about business outcomes and constraints and keep them in mind as they solve hard, unbounded problems
• Understand the needs of data engineering and data science groups and deliver best-in-class solutions for them.

• You have 7+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.
• You have strong communication skills and the ability to work well cross-functionally.
• You have a strong product sense, maintain a high degree of empathy for your internal and external users and seek feedback from them about your work
• You approach problems with first principles. You are comfortable with ambiguity and get excited about working collaboratively to figure out solutions to complex problems, and then executing on them.
• You have helped define the architecture, tooling, and strategy for a large-scale data processing system and tools.
• You keep up with the industry trends and can assess new technologies that can help us better solve problems.

• Experience working with very high scale data infrastructure and toolings
• Experience with data products on Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, or Airflow
• Full-stack development or product engineering experience
