About the Role:

The IT team works closely with all employees and across all of the technology they rely on every day. We are responsible for access management, Systems/SaaSops, traditional software, hardware, and the networking infrastructure at our offices. We are committed to automating as much as possible to make it easier for our staff to support themselves, while still providing them white-glove service. We are always looking at the latest tech to see how we can incorporate it into the business and working with Procurement to roll it out to staff. We work closely with Security to make sure our staff is kept safe from any zero-day exploits through our Mac-based management tool. We know the right tools and automation are a force multiplier for the continued success of a fast growing business.

Betterment’s IT team is looking for an experienced IT Senior Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership for the future design and management of our Mac endpoint fleet and our SaaS Systems. As our endpoint fleet grows, we need a candidate who will ensure that our processes and user experience are able to scale through automation and simplified workflows. You will administer systems to design new IT solutions, modify, enhance and implement current systems, and integrate new features or improvements in order to improve efficiency for Betterment internal. As a Lead Engineer, you'll help balance delivery of new features/updates alongside system stability and scale, all while helping mentor and grow a team of amazing folks.

We are looking to hire for this role based in our NYC office where we offer hybrid working conditions.

A Day in the Life:

• Maintain our current JAMF Pro infrastructure, as well as architect improvements based on Betterment’s growth and security requirements (get us to zero-touch deployment!)
• Partner with the Security and Risk Teams to maintain our endpoint security baseline, add additional automation to our patching schedules and ensure quick response to critical vulnerabilities.
• Act as our macOS and Jamf Pro subject matter expert and, as a final escalation, field questions from technical support teams.
• Partner up with other teams on placing apps behind Okta
• Using alerts, create or update automations using Okta Workflow or BetterCloud
• Work on SOC audits to ensure IT is following guidelines and making sure administrators/owners of systems are accounted for
• Perform high-level configuration changes on our SaaS tools using our Change Management Process
• Attend conferences or classes to further your skills and knowledge

What We’re Looking For:

• JAMF Certified Administrator/Expert certification or similar years of experience
• Strong experience supporting MacOS user environments, Okta, Google Workspace, Slack Grid, Zoom, Duo or other comparable SaaS technologies
• BetterCloud Certified Administrator
• Deep knowledge of system extensions, PPPC, configuration profiles, security context, login / boot process, file system, permissions, SIP etc.
• Patch management experience in a macOS environment leveraging technologies such as Automox
• General knowledge of AWS
• Experience with JAMF Connect
• Knowledge of system migrations in JAMF, Okta and/or Google Workspace
• Comfortable with python and bash scripting
• Experience leading a team and wanting to grow into a managerial role

What Happens Next?

We may ask you to complete a case study exercise or technical assessments, depending on the role, as we aim to collect a robust set of data points throughout the interview process.

On average, it takes us around 2-3 weeks to make a hiring decision, depending on your availability and sense of urgency. As a best practice, we aim to interview at least 3 final round candidates before making a hiring decision.
