We are looking for a Technical Architect to help us on our journey as we evolve our data, services, and applications. This is a hands-on role requiring a strong technical background and a willingness to collaborate with and empower autonomous agile teams. You will be reporting to the Chief Architect and working closely with business stakeholders and engineering teams based in London, Belfast, Shanghai and Chicago.

Key technologies currently in use include:

Python, AWS, Snowflake, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, Kinesis, FiveTran, Snaplogic, SQS, SNS, Lambda, Step Functions, Django, ReactJS, Sagemaker, Looker, GitLab, Alfresco, and ElasticSearch.

In this role, you will:

• Work with engineering teams to design, document, and build solutions.
• Contribute to the longer-term strategic roadmap for our platform, helping to define the technologies, patterns and protocols that should be in play.
• Evaluate existing systems, recommending changes to improve efficiency, maintainability, and performance.
• Conduct research into new technologies, techniques, and approaches that support the design of scalable solutions
• Challenge the status quo and be a champion for innovation
• Become a technical expert in specific areas of the Mintel architecture.
• Build proof of concepts to demonstrate design thinking and help to foster the adoption of new technologies.
• Help to define architecture best practices and draft technology standards and conventions at Mintel.
• Keep a watching brief on emerging technology trends that may be applied to Mintel.

You will either be an experienced architect looking for a new challenge or a senior developer who wants to shift into a solutions architecture role.

In terms of qualifications and experience, we are looking for the following:

• Significant experience of leading the development of distributed, data-driven applications.
• Good communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain ideas to business and technical stakeholders at various levels of the organisation.
• The desire to work in a collaborative environment, where you work with business and technical stakeholders to iteratively build out designs and strategies.

We would also like to see experience of working across a global organisation, but this is not essential.
