Alongside one of the world's largest logistics companies, BCG Digital Ventures is building an Ocean Freight Venture to empower freight forwarders to grow their business globally. Our digital platform will empower them to:

  • Access freight capacity on a large & reliable logistics network
  • Unlock advantageous freight rates & guaranteed space only available to large forwarders & customers
  • Increase efficiency across operations including quoting, booking, documentation, tracking & more

This venture is backed by a large global logistics company renowned in driving innovation within the industry and with its unique strategic advantage, the venture is well-positioned to fully disrupt the industry.

We are looking for a China-based Business Development Director who will report directly to the APAC Head of Ocean Freight Venture.

In this role, you will:

Develop and establish our digital platform as the market leader

  • Be responsible for setting and delivering the overall business strategy of Greater China region
  • Identify, secure and build the customer base for a greenfield business unit within a larger organisation
  • Represent commercial point of view in local cross-functional projects in regional/ global initiatives

Build and grow market share in a scalable manner

  • Hire, groom and lead a team of BD executives to drive expansion of Greater China’s market share
  • Work closely with operations and digital teams to identify market needs and trends
  • Maintain close relationship with customers to understand evolving needs
  • Educate and upsell existing partnerships to leverage full breadth of services provided by our corporate partner

What we are looking for:

  • At least 10 years of relevant sales/ business development experience within LCL market in Greater China; experience commercialising a new business unit is a plus
  • Solid track record driving business development within Greater Chinawith an established network of freight forwarders in the region
  • Well-versed in working in a global matrix organisation with distributed teams
  • Sound digital acumen or prior experience launching a digital business unit will be a bonus
