Sr Consultant (I4)

Job Description

• Leverage Sales and Use Tax returns knowledge as well as best practices for onboarding customers to ensure customer compliance.
• Demonstrate Sales and Use tax expertise and consult with customers to ensure their Avalara setup aligns with their business needs.
• Collaborate with customers and internal teams to ensure the quality and efficiency of the onboarding process.
• Project manage multiple customer projects to ensure all deadlines are met.
• Clearly articulate and manage the scope of work for projects related to software and data services.
• Support the sales and account management teams in identifying additional tax and professional services opportunities.
• Share Sales and Use tax expertise through updates of internal documentation.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

• Strong ability to understand and conceptualize accounting and tax processes and procedures.
• Experience working with clients at all organizational levels with a high degree of professionalism and business acumen.
• Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to interact professionally with employees and customers.
• Adaptability, initiative, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to think strategically, solve problems effectively, and tenaciously follow through to ensure client success.
• Two or more years of applicable tax or tax software experience.
• Proven experience and familiarity with Microsoft computer programs including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Deep Sales and Use Tax knowledge. I.E., sales tax filing for all US States that have a sales tax as well as Canadian Provinces.
• Experience with SST (Streamlined Sales Tax), VDAs (Voluntary Disclosure Agreements), Nexus Study, and sales tax exemption certificate management.​Understanding of product taxability
• Understanding of other tax types (eg telecom, Beverage Alcohol, Lodging)
• Require a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) and 5 years of experience
• Experience with multiple ERP and e-commerce solutions with a focus on sales order/invoicing processes
