Petco is hiring a Director, Distribution Systems who will provide strategic direction for our technology stack across our growing distribution network, ensuring alignment with transformational business strategies, and oversee the optimized operation of our distribution centers. This key team member will manage the applications footprint and devices for our 10 Distribution Centers and ensure that the SLAs and ticket resolution KPIs targets are exceeded. In this highly visible and impactful role, you will get to drive continuous improvement of the end user experience across Petco’s growing supply chain to help us scale our high-growth business. In addition, you will play a key role in the future evolution and optimization of our supply chain network, which includes more than 1,400 shipping nodes for same day fulfillment, Ecommerce, and BOPUS orders.
Essential Job Functions:
- Work directly with Distribution leadership, Industrial Engineers, Inventory and Supply Chain leadership to deliver an evolving distribution systems and network that operates in a secure and stable way, driving transformation, through technology and devices, within the network
- Prioritize and monitor the portfolio of multi-million-dollar Distribution projects to ensure resources are assigned to maximize budget and out-perform expectations for meeting timelines and deliverables
- Work with functional VPs and Finance to ensure that all IT elements are correctly estimated and tracked for budgets and forecasts
- Be an active and contributing member of the leadership team; working to optimize the utilization of IT investments in the most efficient and effective manner
- Develop and recommend annual and long-term staffing plans
- Drive innovation and creative solutions to solve complex business challenges that drive growth across the business
- Oversee operational and support needs for in-production systems and ongoing projects, including managing teams of technical experts through all phases of project development, roll-out, and implementation
- Oversee and manage Software licensing compliance
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directs analysis, design, development, enhancement and troubleshooting of business processes and all IT systems for our Distribution Centers. Assure 99.95% uptime SLAs and rapid ticket resolution.
- Directs prioritization of IT implementations and support all needed enhancements to business process and systems projects, and coordination of staff and contractors through subordinate managers to gather and document requirements, triage and resolve technical problems, execute project duties, responsibilities and tasks, and provide day-to-day application support.
- Develops long-term, strategic plans for business processes, systems and functional components of assigned application(s), including bug fixes, patches, upgrades, extensions, and custom software development.
- In partnership with DC Strategy team, leads major systems upgrades across multiple DCs including new builds, and implementations. Spend on systems projects could exceed $10M annually. Implementations may include upgrades to latest version of Manhattan WMS, MHE, P2L, EPMS, LM, Slotting, VP, Networking and Reporting systems.
- Formulates and defines business systems scope and objectives.
- Responsible for ensuring that business systems activities are conducted in compliance with company policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.
- Provides supervision to assigned staff: includes activities such as hiring, counseling, guiding, training and delivery of disciplinary processes as required. Provides training and guidance and assigns tasks to contractors; provides performance feedback on contractors.
- Model leadership behaviors to management, staff and associates. Provide proactive leadership to maintain a positive business climate that motivates the team of onshore and offshore resources consisting of both vendor partner and Petco partners. Serve as an effective advocate for change and growth
- Establish and promote an organizational culture that encourages leaders to seek and formulate ideas and opportunities that increase efficiency and that improve cost control, loss prevention, customer satisfaction, and company image. Ensure a culture that values and promotes collaboration between all stakeholders and business partners
- Ensure associates/partners in management positions are proven leaders who can meet operational objectives and manage an engaged workforce
- Hire, mentor, coach, and develop direct reports to ensure the highest competency and skill set necessary to meet and exceed Petco’s objectives
- Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all professional contacts with an emphasis on the Company's interests
- Independently prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes and through the work of subordinates
- Serve on or participate in key Steering and project committees as required
- Lead a team of 3 to 5 direct reports, including up to 20 indirect reports, including near shore and offshore partners
- Manage technical staff; Responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, mentoring / coaching, providing functional guidance, assignment delegation and follow-through, and, partnering with Human Resources Responsibilities
- Prioritize and monitor the portfolio of projects and ensure resources are assigned to keep work on time and on budget
- Develop our IT security controls, protocols and functions to ensure we are SOX and compliant to all legal requirements
- Ensure the highest level of customer service and maintain open lines of communication
- Serve as an effective advocate for change and growth
- Establish and promote an organizational culture that encourages leaders to seek and formulate ideas and opportunities that increase efficiency and that improve cost control, loss prevention, customer satisfaction, and company image
Education and Experience:
- Must have managed a technology footprint across multiple DC location with varying technologies in each center
- Experience partnering with Distribution Center leadership, Industrial Engineering, Inventory, Supply Chain, including concepts of B2C fulfillment
- Strong financial management skills
- Excellent knowledge of business principles and DC operations
- Ability to deep dive with IT professionals and then provide clear and informative briefings to the management team
- Strong acumen towards customer service and delivery, with a focus on sustainability and reliability of all services delivered
- Experience with large enterprise distribution networks and systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence strategic information systems decisions, project management experience and a thorough understanding of all elements of a project lifecycle
- Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Information Systems, Industrial Engineering or the equivalent combination of education and experience

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.
$159,200.00 - $238,800.00
Exact rate of pay will be based on position, location, and experience level.
