Job Description
Job Description BAE Systems is seeking an exceptional Engineer for a unique opportunity to support the Air Force's future acquisitions in the next generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) system, known as the Sentinel ICBM Program.
The Sentinel Program (formerly GBSD) is an enormous and complex “Mega-Project” modernizing the entire ICBM weapon system deployed across tens of thousands of square miles in five states. Without a doubt, Sentinel is one of the Department of Defense’s (DoD’s) most important acquisition efforts for the next decade, if not longer. It includes a complete refurbishment or replacement of hundreds of aging Minuteman III ICBM facilities to secure and support a newly-designed, technologically-advanced ballistic missile. It will also provide an entirely new command & control system (including an updated airborne launch capability) as well as vast array of required support equipment specifically engineered to operate and sustain the new weapon system over the decades ahead. It is a long-term project with the weapon system anticipated to deploy over a nine-year period beginning in 2026 and remaining operational until at least 2075. Sentinel is a career-defining program that will present unique and challenging opportunities that are simply not available with smaller DoD projects.
Job Description:
This position will directly support the Sentinel ICBM Advanced Planning Branch as they plan, manage and set up future acquisition systems and future components’ programs needed for Programed/prospective upgrades to the Sentinel ICBM. To successfully accomplish this, the Sentinel Program requires a Systems Engineer with a willingness to lead, learn, and contribute in a fast-paced environment. The applicant must possess high energy and a strong motivation to make a difference. They must be comfortable working with multiple and fast changing priorities. The ability to switch tasks and multi-task with minimal disruption and without constant supervision is a must. Managing multiple project technical inputs and interactions with mission partners is also a necessity skillset.
This position will directly support the US Air Force Futures Division within the Sentinel Systems (Formerly GBSD) Program Office. Our team includes existing staff with extensive expertise in the current Minuteman III weapon system and actively participates in ongoing studies and assessments for future systems updates. Duties will include providing expert technical advice and support to the government leaders and engineers on all Advanced Planning Programs’ systems engineering aspects throughout the acquisition cycle. This position will directly handle technical reviews as well as creation, review, and assessment of documents, architecture, and engineering proposals. The understanding of, and potential application of, evolving technologies supporting the Advanced Planning environment is a key aspect of the position. This team member will assist in the day-to-day engineering operations of the Advanced Planning Branch Lead Engineer including technical status tracking, meeting support and Model Based System Engineering proposal development and management. The position interacts with government customer staff and senior leaders in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Headquarters Air Force, Air Force Global Strike Command, as well as other GBSD team partners from Federally-Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs) and University Affiliated Research Centers (UARCs). This team member will also coordinate and integrate actions with project managers, engineers, logisticians, testers, and external agencies.
Pursuant to Government contract, this position requires US Citizenship status.
This position is only located at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. Due to the special-access classified working environment, the majority of work is performed on-site with somewhat limited opportunities for telework (less than or equal to 20% of weekly hours).
