Job Description
What You'll Do
Teradata is seeking a Benefits Specialist for a role within the Global Benefits Department in the Total Rewards organization. The focus of the role will be on US absence management, benefits program administration, and global time off programs. This role will manage the US leave of absence program in combination with our LOA vendor. The role will have oversight and maintenance for our global time off programs. Additionally, the Benefit Specialist will support the US benefits team with program administration and projects. US Leave of Absence Ownership
- Manage the leave of absence programs for US employees including but not limited to: coordinating with the external absence/disability insurance vendor, maintaining Workday records, coordinating with the payroll teams to ensure accurate benefits and pay while an employee is out on leave, stay current with our claims adjudicators to ensure accurate and timely updates, work with absence vendor for employee accommodations and coordinate with state programs.
- Manage workers’ compensation cases including reporting, tracking, and monitoring cases. Partner with workers’ compensation vendor.
- Stay current with regulations including but not limited to FMLA, CFRA, PFL, PDL, USERRA, workers’ compensation, state sick leave requirements, and other benefit regulations. Prepare state regulatory filings and other regulatory filings
- Build a documentation library and streamline processes to enhance employee self-service in the ServiceNow knowledge base including process documentation for leave of absence, time off and other benefit programs
- Ensure market competitiveness of our leave programs including doing a market review of global leave and time off programs. Be able to summarize findings, analyze costs, present recommendations, and implement results. Put forth recommendations that align our benefits with our company culture and DE&I initiatives
- Build system automation and ensure data integrity with outside leave and workers’ compensation vendors and test/audit new business processes, systems modifications, and updates that impact LOA/benefit processing
Global Program Assistance
- Manage global time off and leave programs including global design, documentation, and coordination of time off programs. Engage with local team to understand local laws.
- Maintain global Parental Leave program including updates to legislation and process documentation.
- Support global benefit programs as needed
- Participate in global projects as needed
US Benefits Support (as needed)
- Respond to employee benefit inquiries escalated from our People Services team
- Support US benefit administration which may include medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, FSA, 401(k) and more
- Support annual benefits Open Enrollment processes including new vendor/program implementation, system testing, communications, and benefit orientation recordings
- Participate in US projects as needed
Who You'll Work With
- Manage vendor relationships outside leave and workers’ compensation vendors and partner with benefits vendors and collaborate with internal teams to manage benefit programs and to quickly resolve issues
What Makes You a Qualified Candidate
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- 4+ years of progressive Human Resources experience with an emphasis on leave of absence and benefits
- Understanding and knowledge of the benefits market and best practices
- Exposure to benefit plan laws with a focus on leave of absence, processes, compliance, and regulatory requirements
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to create and build programs
- Strong problem-solving and issue-resolution skills
- Have experience working with HR technology (ideally Workday and ServiceNow) and Microsoft Office
